Default How often do you get the urge to rewatch a movie?

When a movie is bad, I won't watch it again ever. But if it is ok or good, I find that after about 5 years I want to see it again. Which means that a blu-ray movie for me would cost about $3 per view--not a bad deal.

I had the keep 3 out deal from Bbuster total access, but I recently took it down to keeping one out, w/ unlimited rentals per month, so that I can watch more of my own movies again. I have a list in my head of the movies I really need to watch again.

I re-watch my movies all the time. I'll watch a given movie several times a year. I too have BB total access with 3 rentals at a time. I use that to find movies I really like. I'm pretty picky with my movie purchases. I only buy movies that I think I would re-watch a lot. I don't buy movies that I'll only watch once a year.

I only rewatch those that I really like. Comedies are usually fun to watch again for me.

Kind of a hard question to answer. Depends on the movie. God comedies and action flicks I can watch over and over and over again. But a great drama, I only like to watch once a year or maybe even every other year. Take the Green Mile. If I watched that more once a year, it would lose something with me. But Happy Gilmore or Die Hard, I can watch over and over.

Never.
It's like reading a book for the second time... it's almost annoying.

I will play a movie and sit through it with a friend that hasn't seen it though, I'm a nice guy.

Every week for the past 5+ years, a group of people have gathered at my house for movie night. We make it like an actual theater with movie previews and everything. So basically, a movie will come out on a Tuesday, I will watch it, and if it's good I'll make my folks watch it with me, and then on Friday I end up watching the same movie again. So sometimes I see a movie 3 times a week. There's been a couple movies lately, such as The Fountain and The Departed where I've seen it around 4-5 times in a week. Yes, that's a lot, but there's so much I love about movies that I don't ussually get bored. Unless the movie sucks, then I get tired and zonk out.

Hardly ever but yet I buy them...Reason is cause there is so much I wanna see that I think to myself, I could be watching something I haven't seen before instead of this since I can rewatch the ones I have any time.

New movies typically 4-7 times right off the bat and then maybe once a month.

I voted for "in months" but the truth is, sometimes it's within hours, days, or weeks. It really depends on the movie, but I'm definitely the kind of guy who can watch the same movie over and over again. It was worse when I was a kid - I used to watch some movies two or three times within a day or two. I've gotten a little better... a little.

Let's put it this way: my wife can recite Agent Smith's little speech to Neo (about purpose) practically verbatim because of how many times she's been forced to watch the Burly Brawl. I'm a sad, sad individual...

i'll give you an example, i don't own boondock saints but am borrowing it from a buddy right now. he lent it to me about a month ago and i have watched it four times since, twice in the past week. some movies like fight club, usual suspects, lotr trilogy, original matrix, batman begins, and gladiator are constantly being spun up and typically get one play a month. something like wedding crashers, happy gilmore, a harry potter film, or beerfest is once every two months or so. i then have a slew of movies that get played a few times a year depending on mood like t3, last samurai, or a beautiful mind.

We should have another thread. How long does it take you to buy a movie once you bought it! I have movies that i purchased because I wanted to see them (REALLY wanted to see them) and haven't watched yet. Some I have had for more than a year. Sometimes I just have to be in the right mood to watch certain kinds of movies. I can't always watch a comedy, but I can almost always do with a good horror movie.

Oh and I've seen Rocky Horror over 30 times! Does that count?

I couldn't even begin to guess how many times I've watched Aliens and Tombstone. I watch favorites 5 or 6 times a year. Cast Away being one of those. Since I got my BD player I've watched Sahara at least a dozen times. Wife keeps grabbing that one and not me. Had the player 8 months now, so most likely 6 more times before Xmas.

Even though I put down 5-6 yrs I thouht that was months. The movies I probably watch the most in 1 year are The Rock, Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, Batman Begins, High Fidelity and Aliens.

I have movies that I could watch over and over again, but my problem is if I have seen it once I already know whats going to happen and I usually fall asleep.

Man, you guys make me feel so good about myself now. I used to think I was a freak for watching some movies over and over, but now I dont feel bad. Back in my younger days, I lived with 4 of my closest friends. I swear we would watch Mallrats, Happy Gilmore, Pulp Fiction, and Desperado almost daily. We wouldnt even watch regular tv, just always had a VHS in (Yes VHS). Nowadays, I seem to watch the POTCs over and over, and the Mission Impossible movies alot too. But I still say movies like LA Confidential, The Green Mile, and stuff like that, I try to wait as long as possible before I rewatch them. Great thread by the way. I love hearing other peoples thoughts on this stuff.

Add in Clerks, Reservoir Dogs, and T1/T2 and that's me. Man, we're sad...
