Default My PS3 Slim Control through HDMI demo with My Aquos LC46D64U

Hi guys,

I made this demo to show people some basic functions of Control through HDMI in relation to my TV, Surround System and PS3 Slim.

It's my first video on youtube of a demo so any comments, suggestions and questions are welcome.

How quiet is the ps3 slim compared to the fatty? I had to get a standalone player just cause my 60gb got pretty loud and it just bugged me when I could hear the fan going off during quiet scenes. Im thinking of swapping the bdp-s350 for a slim.

You could of got a PS3 anytime in the last few years and had one that is perfectly quiet. All Fatty models are already completely quiet except some of the old 60g and such models. And Yes the Slim is also completely quiet.

Cool video and nice setup and PS3 theme
I see that they changed the boot screen of the PS3, it just says PS3 to the left there instead of Playstation 3 in the middle as in the fat model.

Quick question, is this function available on the fat PS3?

Thanks

No unfortunately not. Might be something to do with the HDMI controller chip on the Fat they may prevent it I'm not sure.

Another minor thing that has changed when loading a game you no longer see the PLAYSTATION 3 logo with chime.

I actually have a 60GB as well. In terms of fan noise level it's night and day. The slim is very very quite.

Not true at all. My launch 20GB never makes a sound. My 1 year old 40GB has the fan kick in constantly.

I believe only the new Bravia line has the HDMI-CEC feature. Check your manual if you don't see it there you're probably out of luck.

It kind of works with my 52" XBR4 (little over a year old) although I have to do things a little differently.

For powering on, I have to turn on the PS3 and then it'll turn on the receiver and the TV.

For powering off, I have to turn off the TV and then it'll turn off the receiver and PS3.

Yeah, I thought so as well. I just started playing around with it but there really aren't a lot of options to change so I don't think I'll be able to change that behavior any.

I've only ever had PS3's as Blu-ray players so I've got nothing else to compare them to. I will say whole heartily that I love them as blu-ray players.
