Arrow Miley Cyrus Rumored For Batgirl

Two reports for the WTF file. I couldn't help but chuckle at the news...

Quote:
It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had some wild, unsubstantiated Dark Knight casting speculation. Welcome back crazy, probably incorrect tabloid rumors. Here’s the latest: Miley Cyrus auditioned for Batgirl. True? Probably not.

Here’s the story anyway. You be the judge. British newspaper The Globe claims to have “insider” sources who’ve told them that Cyrus is being considered for the part. She “stunned” producers by showing up in a Batgirl costume and hopping around the room and reciting dialogue she’d written for herself. I’m not sure if that’s stunned in a good way or stunned as in “who is this stupid redneck”. Personally I’d expect the latter. Doesn’t exactly sound like the best way to convince producers to take you seriously.

This raises a lot of questions, in particular: Batgirl? Huh? Chris Nolan has been adamant about not bringing in Robin and if you’re not going to bring in Robin, why jump over him to Batgirl? She’s basically Robin, but with a sports bra. Doesn’t make sense. Besides, after a long history of crappy portrayals (hello Alicia Silverstone), it’s hard to believe Nolan or Warner Bros
. would be stupid enough to cast Hannah Montana in the role. Sure she brings with her a huge audience, but The Dark Knight was the biggest movie of all time. They’re not exactly hurting for viewers.

So maybe Miley auditioned, maybe this is just more British tabloid BS. Whether or not she did, and assuming the part of Batgirl even actually exists in Batman 3, don’t expect Cyrus to get it.

Quote:
If there should be another "Batman" movie then it seems like teen queen Miley Cyrus wants a piece of the action, literally. According to the gossip blogs, Cyrus auditioned for the role of Batgirl and might be considered by Warner Bros. for a future role in the series.

According to Hollyscoop.com, the "Hannah Montana" star reportedly "stunned" Warner execs during her audition, even dressing for the part in a "full batsuit."

“She was sort of hopping around the room and had even written some dialogue for herself," a source said of Cyrus' audition. "The problem is some people aren’t really convinced Miley has the acting chops to pull it of.”

When reached for comment, reps for Cyrus hadn't responded to a request for comment by press time.

If the rumors turn out to be true, Cyrus can turn to several source for advice on how to play the role. There's Alicia Silverstone, who played Batman's gal sidekick alongside George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell in "Batman & Robin" in 1997. Maybe that one isn't such a good idea. Batgirl was also played by Yvonne Craig during the 1960's television series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
File this in your Aint-Gonna-Happen File.

Yeah she's too young for the role, I think Bat Girl is normally in her mid 20s or early 30s in the comics, isn't she? Besides, while she is pretty, I don't think she really looks tough enough to be a crime fighter, the girl is very slender.

Nolan knows the mythology well, he wouldn't piss off millions of Batgirl/Man fans by miss-casting one of the most popular characters. Calm down guys, it's not happening.

The paper last edition was January 1st 2005.

It also has Tony Blair as British Prime Minister and you Americans still have Bush

I think this is a bit out of date but thanks for the laugh.

Just wanted to pop in to say this: Batgirl is way more realistic than Robin anyway, so Nolan could easily choose to not use Robin and use Batgirl instead. Bruce takes in an orphaned "son" and allows this minor to join him in fighting criminals? Not very realistic. But Batgirl just pops up on her own, sort of the like the Batman copycats in TDK.

I know, like who would watch that crap. It's nowhere near as realistic as a billionaire playboy running around town in a rubber suit fighting crime using failed experiments from the military contracts of his deceased fathers company.

None of this is realistic.

i doubt this is true but i'd like to say that i have no problem w/ miley cyrus. there are far more less talented people in the world. I also don't understand the timeline theyre going w for w/ Barbara Gordon since like one poster said she's just a kid in dark knight. Personally i wouldn't want to see any sidekick's brought in I love the fact that they made batman this brooding dark but good guy you introduce a protege and that sorta goes out the window. That being said i'd rather see Batgirl then Robin. Personally as long as i get my arkham joker/harley quinn scenes in the next one i'm going to be a happy camper. catwoman is also a must of the next one.

I say don't bother w/ Robin in the Batman movies and just make a nightwing movie and do his back story in that. i would soo enjoy a nightwing movie.

Well I suppose these "Journos" need to "earn", or be seen to be "earning" there paycheque!

And the award for "excessive use of quotation marks for sarcastic effect" goes too

I seriously doubt with the way the current Batman movies are now that there would be a Batgirl or Robin in any of them.

this would be the easiest and fastest way to go from one of the biggest movies in history to one of the worst.

like mike said, i don't think batgirl or robin fit into the world nolan has created.

Here is the link to the original story site. Look in the top right corner and you can see it was not updated since 1/1/2005. A bit out of date

Look at how many posts this thread got. Meanwhile I post something about a truly original good film and it gets 3 to 5 posts. LOL.

You got to love the internet. Anything good and serious gets overlooked, but when someone posts a rumour, no matter how outlandish or stupid, it gets so many hits. Maybe I should post the story that Tim Burton would like to come back with Keaton to do the next trilogy after Nolan has done his.

Miley Cyrus as Batgirl,be for real,Miranda Cosgrove would do a better job! I wonder where Megan Fox is on the list of potentials? Seriuously, I think that Sienna Miller would make a great Batgirl!
