It certainly sounds like it. From the description it sounds like the perfect game, but I haven't even seen an "official" press release yet. It sort of came out of nowhere I can't ever remember hearing about a game like this before. It seems to be pretty interesting and large scale for a new IP. I like that they are taking the risk rather than churning out more of the same.

These 11 minutes of Biomutant gameplay show a much deeper game than we thought

Watching this Biomutant gameplay trailer will give you a much better idea about the game than any of the previous videos.

This one (via IGN) is obviously much longer, at just over 11 minutes, but the real reason is that it does an excellent job of showing off what the game is about.

Pretty much everything shown in the very first CG trailer can be done in the game. The gameplay revolves around shooting smaller monsters to clear the arena a bit and then fight the big guys in melee.

The hero is actually pretty agile, and he’s able to jump, roll, and swiftly flip between guns and melee weapons. You’ll see a couple of instances where he performs air launchers, juggles, and some Devil May Cry-style moves. He can even fling objects towards enemies.

It’s hard to judge how complex the combo system is going to be from the video, but there’s certainly a lot of potential.

here’s a nice comic book-style accent to the fights, too, with words like blam, boom, and smack accompanying the different attacks. It adds to the absurd nature of the game, for sure. Outside of the action, the video shows a glimpse of the crafting and RPG mechanics. There’s certainly more to Biomutant than meets the eye.

The game is due for release in 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

I hope that the whole game keeps referring to the main character as "Biomutant." The name is so stupid that I love it.

SMH. At one point in time, Special Editions, Collectors Editions etc. were something nice to have and buy for the price. Now they're overpriced pieces of crap built with inferior quality and cut corners produced in mass quanitity and charged a bomb for. That is gonna be the dea5h of physical special editions etc.

Personally think the game looks interesting and looking forwards to reading a review. I think i'd love to play all these new games coming out in 4K HDR on PS5 with a patch hopefully. Even games like Anthem might finally realise their true potential with patches to look like how they were originally revealed. I say Anthem as an example as its a game that's gonna probably still be supported and ongoing.

Have Biomutant pre-ordered. The ability to fly in an open world game is one of my favorite features, so that got me to finally pre order and take a chance on buying this game for 59.99. The game design seems promising. If the combat is fun like in Fenyx Rising, I'll be happy.

The limited edition is $400 for an unproven game. That's a much bigger risk I won't take for a statue. It better be a work of art for that price.

Currently no PS5 version, only PS4, XB1 and PC. Will install the disc on my PS5.

That's a long time, but they finally have a release date in less than a month now, May 25, 2021 thankfully if it sticks. It's main competition is RE8 and FFVII Retrograde (name?).

It's good they've taken the time to hopefully fine tune the game. The different vehicles look fun and the open world looks great so far. Along with the character abilities.

Biomutant's world is said to be compressed, spanning 8 kilometers, which is about 4 miles or so.

Here's some good news for fans of the Just Cause series.

"Biomutant is the first game of the Swedish development studio Experiment 101, which was established in the Summer of 2015 by former Avalanche Studios employees. After working on the Just Cause series for many years, the founders of the studio wanted to go back to the basics of video game development and create a game that is "fun in a good way". Experiment 101 has a flat organization and had 18 employees in August 2018. Development on Biomutant started soon after the foundation of the studio."

Great to see Biomutant can reach 60 fps 1080p on PS4 Pro, which will be nice when installed on PS5. Thanks for the info.

I'm thinking of where to focus my exploration strength for character creation.

Radiation zone
Heat zone
Cold zone
Toxic zone

I'm thinking the radiation or toxic zones could be cool to visit earlier, so maybe I'll put more focus on one of those. The one with the city probably.

Biomutant covers it all, flight, on foot, vehicles, horses, swimming, submarines, boats. Lots of variety to enjoy the game with.

Agreed. It's cool the game takes place after mankind went extinct from the look of it.

So 8x8 kilometers equals 64 kilometers or about 30 circular miles to explore, is a lot to explore if that's how it works.

I'm guessing it's larger than Fenyx Rising's compact map.
