Default Are you on AVS? Does it make you laugh too?

I recently joined over at avsforum (only 2 posts) and what little I have read since joining has made me wonder what some people are smoking.

''why is copy protection important?''

one of the better threads I have seen.

but in it I saw rob tomlinson (also on here. believe I got the name right) and wondered how many of you are on avs as well. do you have any favorite threads for reading the fud.

my name on there is dark buckshot.....not very clever but since its will be my evil twin to this site its fitting.

I would avoid going to that subsection of forums, the trolls are in charge.

They should get rid of all of the HD forums there. Wait til the end of the year when HD is being given its final rights to be silent.

It is the bullying insiders that make a mess of AVS.

Before this HD optical disc thing it was mostly a cool place - I have been a member for a long time.

It still has its uses (I sold some HD DVDs this week! ) but it is not much fun for the most part...

I don't post at AVS, but I do usually perform a FUD Sweep a couple times per week. I particularly get a laugh from the Insiders Thread. The A-man puts his foot in his mouth on a regular basis

I like AVSforums and have almost 4,000 posts, mostly about things other than Blu-ray/HD DVD but some about the next generation formats. I have been a member many years, never had a problem of any kind there.

I urge everyone to post regularly on AVS to combat all the lies and crap those HDDVD sheep spread. That place is huge and a lot of people visit so we can't let them influence new comers with their lies and propaganda. Don't let those shills bother you, just post facts and humiliate them and report trolls to the mods to have their posts deleted. We have to fight fire with fire, this is very important. We can't let a bunch of cheapskate with half a brain influence the format war in the lesser format's favor.

AVS can be a great place in the right forum and the right people.

The HD movie area though is a zoo, it would be a much better place though if the moderation was even or if the mods followed through on threats. Don't say you are going to ban or supsend somebody for something and when they do it 3-4 times more do nothing "we are aware, just report the post"..

Agreed.

HD movie dicussions are total nonsense.

Kudos, however, to the nice people on the Los Angeles OTA (Over the Air) HD forum. Got great info on setting my rig to get local HD channels "out of thin air". Which by the way is ROCK'N compared to the ultra-compressed D*TV feeds.

Oh..BTW... "Manco" handle on AVS is a different guy. Not me. So make no associations.

I’ve been a member of AVS for about three years, but only recently did I type my first post there. It was regarding the recent announcement of the EC investigating possible BD anti-trust violations.

Big mistake. I knew there was going to be some enthusiastic responses from the HDDVD crowd, but the personal attacks and childish behavior against me was surprising to say the least. Oh well …

It’s summertime, the weather is great and I’ve decided it’s not worth the effort to deal with those zealot knuckleheads.

I bet those HD-DVD trolls are Microsoft employees.

You know, those guys, that are hired by MS only to post on forums all day.

My sentiments exactly, a lot of us have completely given up with AVS until Blu-ray kills HD DVD good and proper and the zealots leave and move on to their next MS fuelled crusade.
