I posted this yesterday about why I love my SC-05 as compared to an Onkyo 806

Quote:
I say the Pioneer. It is 110 Watts with all channels driven (although I believe this may be inflated slightly) vs the Onkyo at 130 watts with only 2 channels driven. So, with all channels driven on the Onkyo, I feel pretty confident that it will be below the 110 watts per channel that the Pioneer states when all channels are driven.

This is just my opinion, but I had an Onkyo and now a Pioneer, and I feel the Pioneer just sounds less processed in its sound, thus resulting in a richer and cleaner sound. I am a huge fan of the Elite's ICE amps. I am also a big fan of MCACC, Pioneer's calibration set-up. Audyssey is excellent too, but I have liked the add'l features that come with MCACC in setting up the receiver. The Onkyo does have one more HDMI-in, but I personally do not have 5 pieces of equipment I needed to hook up by HDMI to the receiver, so this point was a mute one for me.
