The "wave" is amusing, but Last Starfighter is a great flick.

Well... All I can say is; at least they're doing their best.
I expected more from our studios... Sure hope they make it all up with BD+.

I wonder if Patch Adams can make a dying HD DVD player happy before it dies.

There are only so many quality movies Universal could put out (huh huh... I said Put Out) and even if they released everything good, they still can't compete with the immense catalog all of the BD supporting studios have to offer.

"Honey. Remember when I promised we'd put in that swimming pool?"

"Well...I'm Sorry...I've got to save the money to pick up a copy of Patch Adams. I hope you're not disappointed. I would just feel sooooo empty without it."

I won't call that a wave, a ripple may be exaggerated.

Oh, this is good news. We know they've encoded The Last Starfighter for 1080p, so once Universal goes neutral, it'll be ready for Blu-ray!

Since when does three exclusive titles count as a wave?

Quote:
HD DVD - September 25, 2007:
Cat People (1982) (Universal)
The Getaway (1994) (Universal)
The Jack Ryan Collection (Paramount)
Patch Adams (Universal)
Is this accurate (from Apocalist Redux)?:

Quote:
Blu-ray- September 25, 2007:
Black Book (Sony)
Memoirs Of A Geisha (Sony)
The Jack Ryan Collection (Paramount)
Tekkon Kinkreet (Sony)
Underworld (Sony)
I would suggest Underworld alone would outsell the Sep 25 Universal titles 3:1, and Memoirs Of A Geisha represents yet another visual feast for HD.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I don't even have any BD technology yet. Those that are choosing what to get have to be guided to Blu-Ray for the obvious reasons.

I just saw Path Adams on cable in HD... well 10 minutes of it.... which I think is all I wanted to see.... ever.
Not a bad movie, just not one I'd fork out $25 to get.
Last Starfighter on the other hand would be awesome, if they bother to spend the time resampling it from the original film quality and not just up-sampling from an SD version.

In terms of officially announced exclusives in September, HD still has 6 to Blu-Rays 4 (am I the only one who will be buying The Condemned?). Not to mention that The Last Starfighter is (IMO) a better flick than any of the BD exclusives announced thus far for that month. Waiting for Fox/Disney to make things more interesting, but not holding my breath.
