MVD Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to this movie for a limited theatrical release this month, followed by VOD and physical release. If you saw this movie in 2017, it's supposed to be a lot different now.

The movie got a brief theatrical release in the midwest about a week or two ago but most theatres have already pulled it. Beyond that, it has played at two film festivals: The Skyline Indie Film Festival in Virginia and the DTLA Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA. As one of the ones who got to see the 2017 cut twice, I made the voyage out to L.A. from San Diego to see the final film. A lot of changes have been made (including a final sound mix and even better visual effects along with the music clearances that have kept this movie from coming out) but the movie is just as good as it was then and possibly even better. Some of the changes are subtle but they help the movie flow better than before. The movie runs 2 hours and 12 minutes.

As for the home video release, I believe that the October 11th date was a placeholder that became the real deal by accident. November 8th will be the definitive date for home video and streaming purchasing. Patrick Read Johnson was at the L.A. screening along with a few others (including Alan Parsons himself) and during his Q&A, he mentioned that not only will the November 8th release contain a commentary and a photo gallery, but a deluxe edition is also in the works for a later date that will contain about an hour of deleted scenes (Anyone who heard about or saw 5-25-77 at Celebration IV in 2007 knows that that version ran about 3 1/2 hours) and probably other stuff as well.

The movie might still get a brief theatrical run in the parts of the country that haven't played it yet but with MVD being a small theatrical distributor, I know they are struggling to get theaters so we'll have to wait and see. Since the L.A. film festival screening, Johnson actually got invited up to ILM to screen the movie there but that was the last thing I heard about it since.
