Default The Manahatta Project (or what NYC used to look like)

Saw in National Geographic this month that a group of ecologists are trying to piece together what NYC looked like 400 years ago when Henry Hudson sailed into the harbor.

It's truly amazing what they've done.

They claim that if the area hadn't been so heavily populated, it would be as highly regarded (ecologically) as places like Yellowstone and Yosemite.

Anyway, here is their website if you're at all interested like me:

Interesting and all, but what's the point? You can't change things now. Seems like this is wasted money imo. Would be better spent on endeavors that can actually have an impact on humanity's future such as space exploration or medical research.

This is pretty cool. thanks for sharing. I do have a thing for documentaries and studies as such. What's interesting about it is how much man is able to change the face of the entire planet. It started out simple now its much more complex and overpopulated.
