United Kingdom Competition to see THIRST and meet director Park Chan-Wook!

I'm going to go with the official blurb in a minute, but it occurred to me that folks on this forum may not have seen this competition elsewhere, even though it's been up around the web since last Wednesday. There's still time to enter - it closes 5am UK time Thursday morning (midnight US EST). All things considered, since we aren't releasing the DVD & Blu-ray of THIRST until the beginning of 2010, this is a pretty good way to see it - with a Q & A from the director, plus lunch with him the next day. I'll be there as part of my job, so I'll see whoever wins in a couple of weeks!

Official Press Release:
Palisades Tartan offers movie fans the chance to attend “Thirst” premiere and meet director Park Chan-wook

To tie-in with the forthcoming UK theatrical release of director Park Chan-wook’s latest movie, “Thirst”, Palisades Tartan is offering movie fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to win a trip for two to London to attend the UK premiere of “Thirst” and to meet Park Chan-wook in person.

All entrants have to do is visit http://www.palisadestartan.com/contest_uk.asp between now and midnight on Wednesday 23rd September 2009 and enter their details on the competition page.

A winner and two runners-up will be randomly selected from those who enter. The grand prize winner will win a trip for two to London to attend the UK premiere of “Thirst” at the Curzon Soho cinema on Monday 5th October 2009, hosted by Metrodome Distribution in association with Palisades Tartan UK. The winner and a friend will also have the opportunity to meet and have lunch with the film’s celebrated director, Park Chan-wook. The grand prize includes roundtrip transportation to London from the major airport or train station nearest to the winner’s home address, as well as overnight hotel accommodation for their stay in London.

The two runners-up will each receive a copy of the Vengeance Trilogy DVD Box Set released by Palisades Tartan UK.

“Thirst” will open at UK cinemas on 16th October 2009.

Oh my god. I'm so glad I spotted this Park Chan-Wook is my favourite director of all time and a huge inspiration for me!

I hope I win would be so awesome.

Also that's not the UK premiere, the UK premiere was yesterday right here in Cambridge at the Cambridge Film Festival. Can't believe I missed it, I'm so gutted D:

Antony: it's a long story - the short of it is that the Curzon screening was always intended to be the premiere, but it has been screened at Cambridge by special request. Given how many people missed it like yourself, I'm really glad there will be screenings in London and then throughout the country throughout October.

Ah right, sucks for me though cause I missed it and it's only down the road

Got myself tickets for the Q&A screening anyway incase I don't win the competition and if I do I'll just give my tickets to my parents or something. You think Park will have time to sign a few things after the Q&A? Would love to get my box set signed

Antony: Oh cool, well, I'll see you at the Curzon Soho then. I don't know if he'll have time to sign stuff after, he's on a pretty tight schedule. Me, when I go to events with the possibility of a signing, I always carry at least one item in my backpack, even if it doesn't work out at the time, so it's worth packing the set in case.

Just got back from the screening. Amazing film, not sure if I like it more than Oldboy yet, will need to see it once or twice more!

Too bad the Q&A didn't last longer but there were some interesting questions, I loved the one about Twilight. hahaha.

It'd be nice to get a signing with the cast to coincide with the Thirst DVD/Blu-ray release in the UK

Also just want to say congrats to whoever won, I bet it was awesome having lunch with Park!
