Default HDMI in or OUt?

I was wondering when looking for a Home Theater, do you need it to have HDMI out or in, or BOTH?

Assuming you are talking about a receiver you'd want both, as you'd want the receiver to take the cable from the Blu-ray player and a different cable going from the receiver to the TV.

You will want to get a receiver with both, since you are getting the best possible image and sound to and from your receiver by using a HDMI cable.

Your receiver would need both HDMI-in and HDMI-out
Your TV would need HDMI-in
Your BD player would need HDMI-out

Not sure what other equipment you would need or are referencing.....

Make sure whatever you buy accepts HD audio over HDMI. You may also want it to be able to decode HD audio codecs. Do not buy something just because it has HDMI ports and think it will suit your needs. Many of these act simply as HDMI audio/video switchers, simply passing video ond lossy audio through to the TV.
