I would stay away from the 550 model. I've seen many with IR and burn in. Go with the Panasonic.

That Panny is easily the better set and well worth the extra cash over that Sammy.

I own 2 Samsung plasmas, and while not that model, I enjoy them both. Just go check them out and pick out the one you think looks better.

Also try reading some reviews.

You will love that Plasma Be sure to post pics. Also make sure you break her in and DON'T put it in torch mode After break in and you get the TV dialed in just remember to give you're eyes time to acclimate to the screen. Even minor adjustment may not look good to you right away but give it time (you're eyes) to adjust to it. You want to achieve the best (truest) picture and not the brightest (over saturated) picture. Also pick up a nice micro fiber cloth to dust it and if you ever have something stubborn on the screen use a tad bit of distiled water at room temperature and use very light pressure to remove it and do this with a cool screen, never hot, as this will avoid smear marks because the water dries to quick. When needed, I always clean my screen first thing in the morning when the TV has been off all night. And never use anything but distilled water on the screen, period.

Congrats!!!

You'll love it. I went from a HD CRT to HD LCD to HD Plasma and loved the jump to plasma. Reminded me much more of the CRT experience I was used to.

+1

Except the distilled part, though that's a good precaution.

I just used bottled water with a clean, soft terrycloth towel to remove potato-chip-greasy fingerprints that I didn't know my friend put on the edge of the glass when he was admiring my backlighting last night. People fall all over themselves to find the perfect chemical for cleaning their screens when water is the best and safest agent available.

The cloth is equally important, though again, nothing special is required. Go to your linen closet and pull out the freshly-cleaned and folded, softest terrycloth hand towel you have, and use that. Microfiber works well, too, but most people don't have that in abundance already...unless your couch is microfiber...but your arms might get tired using that.

Great choice on the tv, btw. Not only is it the better set, period, but if you ever have issues with it, you'll be dealing with a company that has top-notch customer service, rather than a company that has almost none.
