I'm sure you will love either option. My preference would be for the Elite since I just don't have a real desire to run separates. I like having just one unit myself. Of course if I had some power hungry speakers then I would go with separates. I don't know what speakers you have, but if they like a lot of juice then you may want to go the separates route. You can always get the Elite and add the amp later if you decide that you want it. That's the beauty of having a receiver with pre-outs. Besides...the Elites are waaaay too sexy!

Thanks for the input guys. I'm thinking of going with the Pioneer 21 b/c I am currently using a smaller setup with a 7.1 Mirage Nanosat Prestige system, and each speaker is rated at 100W. And yes... b/c they are very sexy . I know the UMC-1 has not been released, but it looks like it's going to be really nice. All the preorders have been snatched up. So it keeps making me have second thoughts.
I have read that the UPA-7 helps to bring out better sound quality. But I wasn't sure how much benefit I would see. Any thoughts?
Thanks again,
Joe

The Pioneer has plenty of power so I wouldn't worry about getting the amp right now. Those Mirage speakers should pair fine with that receiver. Like I said, if you had some real power hungry speakers an amp would be desired, but most people have speakers that are efficient enough to be powered with most receivers. Heck, my receiver is only rated at 55Watts/Ch. and it pushes my speakers without a hint of strain. With 110Watts/Ch. you won't have any problems with that Pioneer.
