I was thinking the same thing... I was cruising around eBay for some blu's and I found an auction that was for the digital copy only. The bids were at $6 for a movie that could be bought brand new w/ the digital copy for around $12. Didn't make sense to me either.

I bought some off iTunes...
$5 each for How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and The Longest Yard. $10 for Ratatouille. I didn't have The Longest Yard on DVD and my copy of How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days was the Region 2 Japanese copy. I also had a slower iBook at the time I bought these so it would have taken me around three to four hours to rip the DVDs. I've since gotten a Macbook Pro since now it take less than two hours at most. There were also free movies for download: Journey Into Amazing Caves Truth in 24 - Narrated by Jason Statham Glamour Reel Moments Short Films - There is a great one called Cadillac directed & written by Kate Hudson. It stars her stepfather Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Virgina Madsen, and a then unknown Kristen Stewart. It was release in 2007 I have not bought any Digital Copy discs and codes from eBay or from through forums though. |

I have the digital copies that have came with my Blu-Ray releases. I have a 5th Generation iPod so I can take a mini-to-RCA cord, which usually comes from a video camera's equipment when you buy it. And I plug it up and use it on parents' tv since they still have an old 4:3 TV. I can plug that up and they can watch it and it's regular DVD quality.
But, have I bought any off anyone? Nope. |

hell yeah they do!!! i've sold enough to buy me a new blu already.
if they don't sell on here, onto ebay they go!!! i only keep ones i would possibly use later on.....the dark knight, the incredible hulk, and possibly the lord of the rings if they come w/one. and why not, it takes me 2 min. to snap a pic and put it on ebay, and even less time to add them to my trade liston here. if they sell, that's $3 i didn't have before. Perhaps people just backup their digital copy and then sell the disk?

here's how they work for anyone that is interested:
1: put the disc into your computer 2: the disc pulls up a site where it asks for the code 3: enter the code, download the movie to itunes, windows media, whatever you have. 4: transfer the file to your ipod or whatever device you have. 5: w/itunes, u can authorize up to 5 computers that u can view the movie on but once it's on your portable device, you can watch it as often as you want. the code and disc are used once to download the movie the initial time, that's it. i put the movies i want to keep onto a usb drive so if i want to make some room on my psp memory card, i can always come back to it later and put it back onto the memory card. |
