Hey, I got my PS3 last week and don't have any games yet, just my blu-ray movies.
Any recommendations for my first PS3 game? It needs to be really good cause I only will be able to afford one for quite a while. lol (I already have Oblivion and FEAR on PC, so I don't want those. Although they are awesome games ![]() I wish Heavenly Sword was coming out already....there would be no question which game I'd get if that was out already... Any recommendations would be appreciated ![]() |

I highly recommend R6V. Here's why:
NGS: Single player, no online. The game is really fun, I tried the demo. I was going to buy this game, but I really like to actually play with other people and I can't do that with this game. RFOM: Probably the best of the three, however it has been out for 8 months. This means there is going to be a steep learning curve. Unless you want to invest one week 24 hours a day in this game you will get very frustrated every time you play you will be killed and score low in online. Campaign mode is ok, but I again really like the online. The new maps are great, but again these have been out and people are already learning these. R6V: This is my pick for you. The game is so new that you will be able to progress through the ranks quickly. It is a lot about strategy. RFOM is run and gun. In this game you have to think and be cautious with every move. In review, I care about online play so my pick would be R6V. Plus if you get the game we can get into a game together. |

Well, resistance and R6V are online so you could play forever. Don't know about Ninja Gaiden though. it's not out for another couple days.

I used to play R6 all the time online with my PC. The original R6 and Rogue Spear. It probably would be neat to play R6 again...Never tried it on a console though. Might be a slight learning curve to get used to a fps on a gamepad..I did it before in the original Killzone, but with limited skill. At the same time, The best games coming out on consoles lately have been fps games, so I need to get used to it sooner rather than later. lol
So between them all, I'm highly considering R6 and Ninja Gaiden. From the demo of Resistance FOM, it was ok, but I would really prefer R6 for a fps I think. lol Any chance that R6 can run through a USB Keyboard/Mouse? lol |

Any of the above would be a great choice for a 1st game.....
For your 2nd, I'd consider DLing Super Stardust from PSN. Simple concept as far as game goes (like asteroids but so much better) but hours and hours of good old fashion arcade fun. Good way to break from RFOM marathon sessions ![]() |

Really. You best choice is Resistance fall of man. It was the first game I got and I loved it lol.
1. No one has said this game is rubbish. 2. Its the best online game out and one of the best ever. 3. Story mode is kinda cool but doesn't last too long. 4. Great gameplay. Its really fun. 5. It will make a huge impression for the PS3. Trust me, this game is a great buy. Its very cheap compared to others too. Online is what the game is all about. I honestly don't think its as hard as people make out as I am crap at the game but I still get alot of kills and not so many deaths. Just remeber you may be crap, but there will be people alot worse lol. Its fun even to die lol. Most people are friendly, well, you get the odd phycho lol. Games are always different. There are updates and new maps to explore. Its just fun with other people. WARNING: YOU WILL GET ADDICTED!! |

I'm gonna weigh in on the whole RB:V vs R:FoM here...
If you decide to go with an FPS, out of the two, I'm beginning to prefer RB:V myself. It's not that I don't like R:FoM, it's just that I prefer tactical shooters over run and gun, respawn, frag-fests. So, bearing that in mind, you should try to decide which style of FPS suits you best. If you prefer the "Doom" or "Quake" style FPS experiences, then by all means go for Resistance, but if you do prefer the slower paced, tactical style games like previous Tom Clancy based games, I'd go for Rainbow Six: Vegas. |
