Default is the price difference worth it? mitsubishi dlp

im looking into buying a 82" dlp from mitsubishi. they have a 837 and a 737 model. the difference between the two is that the 837 has dark detailer, perfect tint, and deep field imager. the question i have is it worth to pay $500 more for the top of the line 837 or should i just get the 737? thank you

When I was shopping it had more wattage in the bulb as well. When I looked at them side by side the 837 was well worth the price. They were both Spyder calibrated as well. BTW the Mits are stellar TV's!! At the time, only the Pioneer plasma produced a better picture. Good luck!

yes! Shell out $500 extra for the diamond, it is worth it and you are still getting a gigantic set for less. I have not seen 2 sets side by side but I can tell you that you will see the difference in black levels (diamond has plasma-like blacks). cannot be happier with my 837. Great contrast and beautiful colors. be warned though, SD will look like crap on screen that big.

If you can afford to get the higher end model I would say do it.

ok i decided to get the diamond series (82837) the only problem i have now is i cant find a stand wide enough to fit the tv that can also hold my center channel. my center channel is 33" wide by 8" tall any suggestions guys the tv is 73" wide. so i would like the stand to be at least that wide so it doesnt look funny. most of the affordable stands that i found are 65" wide so i might have to do that.

Doesn't the 837 have the dreaded iris which can't be turned off? I guess it doesn't bother some people, but I have read some big complaints of it.

You could try and find two smaller stands and put them side by side.

Well, I know I was looking for a suitable stand for a long time. Ended up getting Bell"o http://www.amazon.com/BellO-AVSC-987...9079237&sr=1-2
I really like it but it's 66' and options for you are slimmer. If you don't want to spend too much money, check the furniture stores for wall units/short dressers or like Propellarhead9 suggested, you can get 2 small stands and put it side by side.

thanks for the help guys. i think im going to do the techcraft stand below the question i have is that my center channel is going to be in the compartment underneath the tv the only problem is the tweeter horn part will be covered up by the center brace of the tv stand. will the brace cause loss of sound or sound quality?

No, that won't affect it much at all. Just remember - Now is the time to start making out your list for your Super Bowl Party...hint hint.....
