PS3 locking up (not in game) - Blu-ray Forum

I turn on my PS3 this morning, and start browsing the PS Store and it starts lagging really bad. I will push a button and 4 seconds later it will do it. Then it shuts down and beeps and blinks a red button. I've tried a few more times and as soon as it boots up this happens. Anyone else have this problem? Could it be due to 3.0?

its possible or you may have a problem. Have you unplugged the system for a couple of seconds and tried it again?.

Your PS3 might be on its way out unfortunately, is it still under warranty?

Yeah, I tried unplugging and rebooting, but no luck. It wont even boot up anymore. It's not under warranty either. I guess I'll just send it to Sony. Meh, gives me a reason to buy a slim

wow sorry to hear that... this is the exact thing that use to happen to mines before it crapped out on me... you'll get the yellow blinking light soon

and will wont even turn on.. cost roughly $162 with tax for a replacement... Sony will send u a refurbished ps3

The same thing happend to me about a week ago. My PS3 in now dead and replaced with a slim.

same here - someone want to get a Class Action Suit together?

2-2.5 years seems a little too soon for overheating and YLOD on all of these units all of a sudden...
Mine did the same thing except my screen turned black with green, red and yellow dots all over it

+1... im all for that.. I would love my $162 back... funny thing was mines didnt even last 2 years

and just my luck that i was out of the 1 yr warranty
