Default How Often Do You Preorder?

How often do you preorder titles that haven't yet been released (from Amazon.com or other stores)?

For me, it depends on how much I like the title and the price. I've often seen prices drop within a few months (if not days) after the item is released (after it was already sent to me at the higher price), but I've also seen prices rise after I placed the preorder, but before the item is released, thus actually saving money.

Lately I've been wanting to preorder much less often, because prices tend to be the same, if not a little better, later on. What do you think?

I used to do pre order but now after see blu-ray price drop very quickly for some new title just out for few months or even weeks i choose to hold it, i am not buying any single blu-ray over $15, i hate buy stuff that drop price right after.

I never pre-order anything as I can usually get it cheaper once it does get released. There is usually always a deal to be found.

Yes, case in point: the Criterion Collection version of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Just looking at Amazon's site (not even comparing with others which may be cheaper)... The price started off (if memory serves) close to $30, then it fell to about $25 (where it is now), then fell some more to just under $20. Finally, and apparently under a special offer, it fell to a remarkable $15 for a while, before going back up to $25. I'm so glad I bought it when it was at $15, which was a great deal for the title and its special features.

Exact reason why I never preorder... With almost every release someone comes here complaining how Amazon dropped the price after release day and they can't get the difference back... Patience pays off...

It depends on the item, really. Being in Hong Kong I have to guess if certain items will be available in store soon enough, or at all. So sometimes I have to take the gamble and pre-order some items that may or may not available in store here.

Like NBA2K10's special edition, I don't even know if they will sell it here in HK. So I pre-ordered it.

I pre-order a lot of Catalog titles...the ones that Best Buy sells for an insane $30. New releases tend to be decently price now so I just buy them in-store.

I hardly ever preorder, I almost always wait for the title to be released. I buy most of my titles from eBay, this site, Highdef digest, or Amazon third party. You can save so much money that way.

I never pre-order for two reasons:

1. I wait for the reviews of the DVD or Blu-ray to come out first, to make sure the picture quality is good. No interlacing, DNR, edge enhancements, etc.

2. I wait for the price to inevitably come down.

It is your money, but I am a firm believer of the sooner you buy it, the sooner you get to enjoy it. I do not worry about when or if a price drop is coming. I'd buy the movies I really like almost as soon as they are released.

I only preorder if it's a situation where the price is so good it might be a mistake (case in point, Texas Chainsaw Massacre for $9.99 @ Best Buy right now). Otherwise, I price match Walmart.com at Best Buy.

I don't preorder ever unless it's a special thing. For instance I bought the Snow White steelbook at BB so I technically preordered it and my wife preordered Snow White at the Disney store for their exclusive bundle that has the limited edition Snow White doll, lithograph, and blu-ray.

Used to pre-order a lot but not anymore...

If I can wait a few week I usually do, because you can most likely find it on sale.
