Oregon Duck Blount has been suspended for the whole season for his attack after the Boise State game.

HAHAHA I was hearing people say maybe 1 or 3 games but the whole season!! WOW!! Thats good though because what he did was wrong, to sucker punch a man??!! He deserved it!

On a side note: It was a nice punch

they shouldn't go that hard on him. Issues as such happens all the time in other different sports. Vick is on top of this and he got a chance to redeem himself.

I have seen worst fights than this. Watch and let me know if this should be compared to what Blount did.

He can apply for the scholarship again next year, but why should the school have to fund him if he can't play ball because he couldn't follow the rules?

To me, the difference between his sucker-punch-and-run and other altercations is that most others are "heat of the moment" fights. His happened after the game and for no valid (IMO) reason. It was cowardly and an insult to sportsmanship, which to me is completely different than losing your cool after a tackle or after battling it out on the line all day.

From the vid, he was taunted into it. Still should not have done it, nor should that be worth a whole season. Good luck getting into the NFL with the rep he is going to get from this.

no valid reason? dude was getting trashed talked to and was slaped on the back by the player he hit. boise coach saw it coming and he was trying to get his player out of the way of the hit

In hokey, this is cheered for, but in football, shame on him?

By the end of the weekend, People well have already forgoten about it. Sure it well be bought up again at the next oregon game, but followng that, IT well be a distant memory

I side with the minority that thinks this suspension was a bit excessive.

Call it a sucker punch or whatever you want to call it, but the guy on Boise State isn't completely innocent. Sure Blount was quoted with a few choice words going into the game, and sure he shouldn't have reacted by throwing a punch... but come on.

Why is nobody saying anything about the sportsmanship on the part of the Boise State player who slapped and shoved Blount, which provoked him to punch the guy?

So it's ok to gloat and shove a guy, but is there a limit to how much you can shove a guy? If you're tough enough to mock someone like that, be prepared to deal with their reaction.

It's a shame that any chance this guy had at a professional career is now ruined, because his school wanted to make an example out of him.

And I'm definitely not someone who ever wants to place a race card, but I can't help but feel like since it was a black "thug" who punched a white guy in the face, people are up in arms about it. But if it was a white guy punching a white guy (you know, like in hockey) it'd be joked about, and considered awesome. If you don't believe me, read some of the comments on any number of blogs/articles about it.

I think a half-season suspension would've been fine, that way he doesn't get away scot-free, but he'd also at least have a small chance of salvaging a potential pro career.

Well I agree with you. Still the other guy didn't help the situation, he made a comment to Blount and tapped his shoulder. Since it was decided to punish Blount they should have punished the other one as well too. I think the move is meant to intimidate Blount.

The guy who started it should be gone the whole season as-well, I think it should have been half the season and if they get a bowl game out for that as-well. Little too stiff for getting pushed in the back and mocked/ antagonized, oh well at least he made that other guy look like a clown lol BAM right in the kisser
