Default National Geographic Relentless Enemies HD DVD vs Blu Ray 1080P?

I just saw a great demo at Circuit City. They had National Geographic's Relentless Enemies on 2 different set ups. 1 on blu ray - the other on hd dvd. I have to tell you the - the Blu Ray looked great but HD DVD looked better! Is there a difference between the way they are transferred? The guy in the store said that HD DVD is in 1080i while Blu Ray is in 1080P? Is that possible?

1080p is 'greater' than 1080i.

If both were on the same rez, they should look the same but many retailers play little tricks to sell what they want you to buy... with speakers, they'll hook up a pair out of phase so you'll buy the other pair. In this instance, I'll bet the panels were not tweaked equally.

If the HD DVD looked better, it was just the set-up. Circuity never calibrates their sets, so they probably are all out-of-wack.

The same video file.
Btw, the intro/menu is in 720 if I remember correctly.
