Just wondering who else on here has AT&T regular DSL or AT&T U-Verse DSL and has been having problems lately.
I for about a year was on the 6MB download DSL plan and had no problems with game updates, PS3 firmware patches, game demos, game betas, video content, video rentals off PS Store all would download fine in a reasonable amount of time. But now and for the past 2 weeks AT&T has done something to their service where downloads that are small, medium, or huge are taking way to long. Right now I'm trying to download the Little Big Planet 2 patch which is less than 1MB and it's taking over 45 minutes ![]() I haven't been able to download the game update for Test Drive Unlimited 2 and can't play that game because of this problem. I have tried both a wireless & hard wired setup on PS3 and still have the same problems. I have even upgraded my DSL download speed from 6MB down to AT&T's 2nd fastest download plan of 18MB and still have the same problem. Before as early as last month when I didn't have these problems I downloaded the huge Gran Turismo 5 game patches fine without any problems. I also was able to download the massive & huge DC Universe Online beta without any problems a few months back. What I've also noticed is that the problems are mostly with the game updates. Last night I downloaded the Killzone 3 single player demo which was over 1.5 gigs and at first when I stayed in the PS Store the download estimate time was over 5000 minutes. For some reason after waiting about 2 minutes and I got the option to select "download in background" option this helped speed up the download a whole lot and it finished within 15 minutes while I monitored the download in "download management" on the XMB. A lot of people on message boards on AVS and the US playstation community boards are reporting the same problems where they have AT&T Uverse or AT&T DSL connected to their PS3's. If you are able to order up to 18Mbps and you only have regular DSL (non U-verse), then you must be an IPDSLAM customer. I'd say, go to a regular website, like Speak Easy, and run a speed test. If you are getting anything less than 16Mbps, while plugged directly into the router, then you need to create a repair ticket. There's possibly bridged tap on your line that could be killing your downstream.

I noticed this as well. I just rented Ratch n Clank, crack in time and there was a 14mb patch. It took like 10 minutes to download instead of the 30 seconds if should have taken. Since that was the only thing Ive done, I paid no attention to it. I have 12 mbps Uverse.

My problems have been sporadic. I get odd blackouts at random times of the day, usually several times a day. The cable TV will freeze for several minutes, then go back to normal. When this happens, I can't do anything over the internet either, so I've have downloads interrupted and have been disconnected from PS Services.
At other times, it does run very slowly. I tried to download Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption and was told it would take almost 300 minutes to complete. I decided to pause the download and came back to it the next day, and had no troubles whatsoever. Would changing the DNS as shown above solve this? |

Ok, this worked for me. Thanks. I had these dns servers in my router's config, but I forgot to put them into the ps3's settings. If memory serves, they are google's open dns servers.
