Default Hardly Working (1980) Jerry Lewis

Hardly Working is a 1980 American comedy film directed by and starring Jerry Lewis, filmed in 1979, released in Europe in 1980 and then in the United States on April 3, 1981 through 20th Century Fox. Hardly Working had a worldwide gross of $49 Million Dollars!

Hardly Working is one of those films that never made it past VHS, it's in desperate need of a new transfer and DVD/Blu-Ray Release before it's lost to time forever.

Saw this in the theater with my recently departed best friend back in 1981. He was a big Jerry Lewis fan. Rest in peace, D.

I hope that its with his estate now and not 20th Century Fox, cause Lewis is one of the greatest directors ever and his works should be preserved accordingly

Back in 2016 (when Lewis was still alive), a Kino insider named Mr Lime said they had looked into releasing both Hardly Working and Way Way Out from their Fox deal.

Way Way Out has a HD master, but there were music clearance issues that couldn't be sorted out for whatever reason. Hardly Working not only had legal issues and no HD master on hand, but was speculated that the rights were reverting to Jerry Lewis himself. It's now believed his estate owns it, but are blocking any sort of release due to Lewis himself "disowning it" as with the unfinished Day the Clown Cried.

I can understand Jerry Lewis "disowning it" because it didn't live up to his earlier works, however his estate should understand that fans of Jerry Lewis would hate to see any of his films lost forever regardless of how Jerry felt about it.
