Disney Winnie the Pooh (2011)

Winnie the Pooh Blu-ray Three-Disc Combo

Winnie the Pooh Blu-ray Review

Winnie the Pooh Blu-ray Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo in DVD Packaging

With just under $8,000,000 made in the domestic box office during opening weekend, this film should be out on Blu-ray pretty shortly. My current prediction is November 15th or 22nd so that it can be out for Black Friday and other early Holiday shopping. I hope the release isn't lacking too much. I'll be thankful to get a Blu-ray release in the first place (almost every other country that got an earlier theatrical release is doing DVD-only releases), but some special features would be nice (especially Deleted Scenes given the film's very short runtime). I will definitely pick it up. I've seen it in the theater (more than once), and I absolutely love it! Hopefully, "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" will be released alongside it (the DVD is currently OOP).

What thoughts and/or opinions do you have about "Winnie the Pooh" and its Blu-ray release?

I don't know whose bright idea it was to release this on the same weekend as Harry Potter; I really didn't want this to be such a flop.

Anyway, considering Disney didn't treat The Princess and the Frog (underperformed but not a flop) nor Tangled (success) very well in terms of bonus features on home media, I'm expecting very little for the release.

Considering the English DVDRip is already online, I expect a release in less than two months. Disney really F'ed the release of this up, basically releasing it at the beginning of the year everywhere else and then scheduling a DVD release in the other regions just in time for the pirates to get ahold of them and up them on trackers.

The movie was better than I expected, and the scene after the credits is worth waiting for.

Please....PLEASE....let knee-jerk Hollywood media columnists become aware of this enough to kill off the myth of "Counterprogramming" once and for all.

We'd already lost one sufficiently good Disney movie to Harry Potter, must two suffer?
(And a third was a Pixar, and survived by being clever enough to joke about it.)

This film was released in my country months before the US, something that rarely, if ever, happens at all . The sad thing is that I didn't saw it in theaters but we already have the BD available. Will rent it this week at Blockbuster . By the way, I live in Mexico.

It is a shame that this film did so poorly at the box office. I will skip this at the theater and pick it up once it comes out on Blu-ray

Were the tickets cheaper in US cinemas because of the short running time?

Tigger: Head for the hills! Head for the hills!
Winnie the Pooh: But Tigger, this *is* a hill.

I'm not a huge Pooh fan, but I did see this in theaters (wanted to support hand-drawn animation) and will buy the Blu-ray.

I'm looking forward to watching the film in HD; my theater presented it horribly - it was blurry and dull. I've heard people say that nothing beats seeing a movie in theaters, but lately I have to say I prefer watching a film at home!

I'm also hoping Many Adventures is released on Blu-ray alongside Winnie the Pooh.

Can't wait for this to be released and I'm sure that Disney will release a Blu-ray for this. Isn't the UK the only country not getting a BD release of this and so far it has done better in the US then it did in the UK.

I do hope they release the original. I do dislike how slowly they release the classics, but at least they do a really good job once they do. I really wish they would announce some of their live action classics also (with the original shorts that came out in theaters prior to the feature). 20,000 Leagues and Darby O'Gill especially.

Anyway, considering Disney didn't treat The Princess and the Frog (underperformed but not a flop) nor Tangled (success) very well in terms of bonus features on home media, I'm expecting very little for the release.
Disney did this as a way to "prove" to people that hand-drawn animation is dead in the water. Princess and the Frog was in their mind a failure and it was more so-called "proof" that hand-drawn animation had no future so they put this out with a minimal budget(I think this film's budget was less than a third of Princess and The Frog) and put it against Harry Potter and basically made this a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's like Wal-Mart did with the Gi Joe toyline a few years ago. Someone there got it in their mind that Gi Joe was dead and it wouldn't sell so they jacked the prices way up and ordered less stock than they normally would just to prove that it wouldn't sell. Gi Joe, nor Winnie The Pooh had a chance from the start because someone high in power somewhere decided it wasn't worth it despite lots of evidence in both cases to prove otherwise. Winnie The Pooh also wasn't even promoted. I have yet to see one trailer or tv spot for this movie and it's very possible that many people simply didn't know it was coming out as well.

For the record about Gi Joe anyway, Gi Joe according to sales at the time was the 3rd best selling boys toyline in the country but Wal-Mart did that and eventually got the line cancelled for a few months before fans finally complained enough and Hasbro got it back going again without Wal-Mart's involvement. Winnie The Pooh basically suffered the same fate and I expect the sales of this to be absolutely tremendous on dvd/blu-ray when it comes out.

I saw the theatrical trailer playing before Cars 2, and I've seen many TV spots, including this one.
