Default Is Disney Blu-ray over price?

I was surprise to find out many of the new disney blu-ray cost like $29.99 or more in amazon. Some of those title are old like hero etc.. And Ups cost like over $30..

While other studio is dropping price of their blu-ray (new and old) Disney just keep raising their price? Not to mention they had the most commercial in the disk.

you need to correct your thread and state Amazon is raising prices. Amazon sets a generic price til it gets a final pricing, it will drop, chill.

Snow White is coming out at 25.99 at Best Buy so its not Disney

You also have to remember that most of these sets also come with a DVD copy of the film.

Not to mention, the final sale price hasn't been locked in yet, like Sully Mod said. By the time the first week of release comes around, there are always good deals to be had for the big releases.

But Hero came out today and it's still $29.99... When was the last time a Disney new release sold on release day for $29.99 on Amazon?...

I said a BIG release. Hero isn't exactly one of their big well known titles.

Exactly then why it got charge so much? should not cost more than $20 in my opinion. Plus it has transfer issue.

I will agree that Disney typically overcharges for catalog titles. I mean, do movies like The Waterboy really warrant a $39.99 MSRP? That means $25-$30 in stores.

Considering the small group that would want to buy that film in HD, they're pricing it to actually make money.

It's completely ridiculous. I wonder how many copies Amazon has sold of The Waterboy at $26 a pop? I'm also going to guess that the $29.99 versions at Best Buy, the nation's #1 HD retailer, aren't flying off shelves either.

Come to think of it...I think that Disney blus is at a pretty good price..

If I can remember correctly there last two release on blu had coupons that helped with lowering the retail price.

But guys, the OP is correct. Disneys MSRP is through the roof on new titles....and even old titles like Monsters inc. Even if Amazon does their normal 30% off, the disc sells for $30.00. Up is $45.00 for crying out loud. Amazon s 30% off puts it at $32.00. Thats Koo-koo compared to what their competition is doing.

Best Buy is the nation's #1 HD retailer. Their sticker price is what the majority of customers will notice. Disney's high list prices will reflect higher sale prices there. That doesn't help the format.

So it's Amazon's fault that Disney decided to raise their list price from $39.99 to $44.99 on new releases?

Because of them, Amazon has to offer up nearly 50% in discounts just to get a new title under $25. I can't imagine they would want to do that often on a new title.

Disney does 2 things wrong that hurts BD:

1. $44.99 list prices for new titles.
2. Barely releasing any titles. I think they average 3 a month.

It's a good thing other studios don't follow this practice. Otherwise, we'd have an extremely tiny selection of titles for a steeper price.

I swear, I think if Disney raised prices to $99.99, someone would defend it. "But they're including a dvd, digital copy, a watch, a notebook, socks, a hat, and balloons!".

how is #2 hurting blu ray? i seriously doubt that. this is typical disney strategy and it works for them. they make googles of dough every release and each one is better than the last in many more ways than one. i serioulsy doubt that thier strategy hurt dvd

.
Although the list price is $44.99, the wholesale price must have been set in such a way that Best Buy can sell those for $25. If Best Buy can do that, amazon should be able to at least get close to it.
