The Wii is a fad, the second 360 drops (PS3 will still be too expensive after a drop) pretty pictures will draw them like flies

I hate to sound like an HDer, but I seriously doubt many of those new customers are going to be buying very many games. Most of them are very happy with Wiisports. This time next year there'll be used Wiis all over Craigslist and Ebay

^^ Long term, I'm inclined to believe your take on this, but short term at least, it's hard to argue against numbers and ownage like this:

i was talking to the manager at best buy the other day. i had a few blu discs in hand and was just kind of wandering the ht section. he kind of peaks over, sees the discs and we start talking blu-ray. i got two things out oh him.

#1, hd media is selling but not mainstream yet (as we know). however, BR is doing significantly better than the red group and they are pretty much not promoting it even when they say they have an endcap (saw a sign saying there was one, but then they had the new sony sitting there).

#2, the wii is hot. they can't keep them in stock. however, it's pretty much families with small kids that are buying. he sees the wii as a fad as well and they are selling only a handful of games. however, everyone he talked to is basically saying it's great for a few weeks / months but then everyone gets tired of it.

i have this same opinion, but it will take some time for it to stop selling.

i really don't like the wii. It will fade out next year. Sony will catch up when more games come out and when the console comes down. look who won the new console war. It's not really new technology and if it was the same price as the ps3 it might be a bit tight to see what console sells more

I think the WII would be fun for about a week, but would i buy one...nope. Like you all have said its a fad, and sony will pass up everyone once more games come out. Its only a matter of time IMO

Default Have one...

I've had a Wii since February, and I have only purchased two games and only made time to play one so far. I've been too busy buying Blu-rays and watching them on my PS3!

I think that the Wii will fade out by this time next year for sure. Most of my students at school that got them (7th graders) were interested for a few months, then went back to their 360's and harassing their parents for PS3's (or saving up on their own). I don't feel too bad about it. I only spent a couple hundred on it and maybe it will be fun for awhile. Hey, I still have my original Nintendo and Super Nintendo from back in the day, and play them maybe once a year. Family visits and plays the sh*t out of the original Nintendo. They love that Mario.

I doubt the wii will end up like a fad, and just go away. Its just at the same state as the ps3 right now. Only 2 or 3 good games. and the rest or jsut, meh. If developers woudl make the games for the wii great, it would be a sweet system. same goes for ps3. i'm sure over time both systems will get there share of amazing games.
