Help please. We have a Canon Vixia HD camcorder with flash memory and we are wondering if there is such a thing as a blue-ray player recorder that would allow us to download video & photos from the camera flash card directly to a blue-ray disk on the player/recorder. We do not need an edit option. If there is such a thing, is it possible to then take the blue-ray disk w/photos in to have them processed into hard copies? Thanks for your help!

I have not heard of a blu-ray camcorder. the technology is still too new i think. Remember how long it took for the dvd camcorders to come out. i have a feeling we have a wait ahead of us |

We are looking for a Blue-Ray player/recorder that we can download/record HD video from our camcorder directly to a Blue-Ray disc. I've seen some that mention that they accept the flash memory cards so I'm wondering if we can make a disc on the player/recorder from our flash memory cards? I'm probably asking for something that doesn't exist but I thought I'd give it a try!
Thanks. |

As far as I know, there are currently no Blu-ray recorders available, outside of Japan. I would suspect we would see one shortly though.
I'm also not aware of Blu-ray player/recorder drives for PC, but someone could correct me on that. John |

Blu-ray burners for the PC do exist. This would allow you to copy video/photos to the disc as a storage medium. I'm not familiar with that camcorder, but you may need additional software (Canon may have provided software) if you want the HD video to play on a blu-ray player

Pardon my ignorance but I've been looking at some Blue-Ray player/recorders that are available in the states which makes me think that I'm missing something. If they are Blue-Ray players/recorders do they not record Blue-Ray? Are these machines only set up to record from a hi def tv to a disc in some other format? Again, I'm really a novice at this and find some of the information that is out there very confusing. If the Blue-Ray player/recorders are not available in the states yet does anyone have any idea how soon they might be available?
Thanks again! |

Yes, I'm referring to downloading the info to a PC and copying to disc. I'm not aware of any current standalone players that have this capability. |

The player will play recorded media (e.g. disc, memory card, camcorder, etc.) but the product info doesn't mention anything about recording to media. Here are a few links to the Panasonic website: Specs on the DMP-BD80K: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...702#tabsection You can download the manual from: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...odel.DMP-BD80K |
