Yeah, this really would have looked incredible in 4K. If you're region free, I would suggest the Criterion release over this one for its superior extras, including an 80 min documentary, and a 44 minute memoir film from Kwan.

I hope so anyway. I'm not a fan of hastily put together booklets with little care and attention paid to the outlay in addition to the essays. It would make the whole thing look amateurish - which is not something I would tend to expect from 88 Films. |

The only real things that'd make this upgrade-worthy would've been a 4K UHD release and more extras, neither of which seem to be happeneing here.
I wonder if both Criterion and 88 Films felt the restoration perhaps didn't warrant a 4K UHD release? It looks nice, but it has a very thick filmic look to it. Looking at the caps at DVDBeaver, faces often look rather flat and lacking in contrast/highlights you might expect. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/20/rouge_bl...y__blu-ray.jpg |

Has anybody been able to order this from Amazon UK? Every time I try I get a message stating

When applicable, we'll move it to the Saved Items section of your Shopping Basket. From there, you can click the item to return to its product information page and try another seller. |
