The Black Hole (2012).

After reading the thread about Tron legacy, it jogged my mind that Joseph Kosinski is working on the remake or re-imagining of Disney's The Black Hole. A great article over at comicbookmovie.com reveals how they want to take the film in a more hard science fiction direction whilst keeping iconic elements like Maximillian, the design of the spaceship Cygnus, and the death of a major character and how it is 'done'. Is there any teaser material out there for the film, or is it all under wraps for the moment?

I loved that movie as a kid, even though it was a little scary back then. It is a very dark movie for a Disney flick.

yes, it was a very different disney movie. It creeped me out as a kid and today, would think they a remake would not be released under the Disney name but one of the other movie studio names they own.

Anyone remember Watcher in the Woods? that was another creepy disney flick.

Totally loved John Barry's soundtrack for the movie. I always enjoyed the Visual effects in this one. I'd be interested in seeing this.

I like the sounds of this. Last time I watched it, I thought "this should be remade." It did have its moments, but it did have its shortcomings. Story and characters could be better. Science and physics could play a bigger role. And above all, the production value needs to be upped; the droids looked pretty silly, the one chick looked like she had tin foil in her head, and I swear that one of the ship's walls was made of CLOTH!

The one good thing for the remake will be that the original will be release on Blu-ray.

Yeah, I remember almost nothing about the film except it really disturbed me as a child.

This could be a good remake (can't believe I said that). The original had some potential but suffered from poor directing and "phone it in" acting.

Speaking of creepy Disney flicks, Darby O'Gill and the little people was the one that gave me nightmares as a kid. Creepfest!

If you watch closely, those robots were not so cute. A remake though could do without the jar-jar style charaterization they had.

don’t know for sure yet. It depends a little bit on how Tron does. Obviously, if Tron works and is a success, then that opens up more opportunities for me. If it doesn’t, then it might be harder to find a job. But, I’ve got a couple things in development. Black Hole and Oblivion are both at Disney right now and I’m excited about both of them, so we’ll see.
