Default Pushing sales from peoples death

I think it's in bad taste that online retailers are using peoples deaths to push sales. If you go on play.com theres a banner advertising Patrick Swayzes movies and it was the same when Michael Jackson died. What does everyone else think of this? Personally i dont like it one bit.If people take an interest in Swayzes movies because hes died theres nothing wrong in that but the retailers are exploiting that.

I really don't have a problem with this. Sales of people's merchandise picks up in a huge way after someone's death so you're making it easier to find the movies starring him without having to search. Amazon and Deepdiscount have Swayze on their movie main page as well.

What's bad is when thieves break into peoples' houses because they know they are at a funeral. Happened to the family of a Patriots player a few years ago, in New Orleans.

That sux.

I have no problem with stores advertising products featuring the recently deceased. Their lifes work should be celebrated, particularly now.

If they were making a donation to a cancer charity with every sale that would be totally different but they arn't.

You should have seen the price hike in NZ when Michael Jackson died, cds and dvds which were normally in the bargain bin for $NZ5-9 were up to $NZ21 the next day, and under 'New Release'.

Of course sites do that, but I feel like it's more of the people buying them all of a sudden that are doing it. Why do people feel that just because someone died they HAVE to buy something of theirs? I'm just saying. Once it's listed as a top seller, everyone else will see and then they'll buy it. Personally I wasn't ever a fan of Patrick Swayze, I never saw any movies he was in or at least a leading role he was in.

That is a good way to look at it, but thats not their motive behind it...

Yes, raising prices after a death I have a problem with, but advertising products of the recently deceased is fine by me.

This has been going on forever, it's nothing new. When Kurt Cobain blew his brains out, every record store (hey, remember those?) had giant Nirvana posters and special bins set up for you to buy all their Nirvana crap.
