Default Ghost House Underground movies at Best Buy...

Anybody know anything about these movies? Best Buy is advertising 4 in their weekly ad, either 2 for $35 or 4 for $60, and I've never heard of them.

Are they any good or are they just low-budget garbage?

The titles area: The Children, Seventh Moon, Thaw and Offspring.

Thanks!

I wouldn't be surprised if these do not show up on Fearnet soon.

This year's Ghost House Underground line up is not that bad, would definitely wait for the prices to go down a little though.
Not sure why people immediately think that low budget means bad movie...

Another thread on this here:

I thought the 'body bags' around the cases was one of the dumbest promotions/throw ins I'd ever seen. Looked really bad.

In this case, they typically are. Most of these Ghost House Underground titles are complete garbage. I rented a few, and don't think I'll be renting any more...

Yeah I agree. Well for the most part they look pretty bad.

The director for Trick R Treat said it was a low budget, but look what people are saying about it. Budget plays a large roll, but not everything.

That's what I figured. I saw them on tomorrow's release list and wondered why I hadn't heard much about them - this would explain it!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll probably wait until there are some reviews. There's enough to get the next few weeks anyway.

The Children was a fun little film I'll pick it up if I can get a good price.

The problem is you're talking completely different filmmakers. Its not as if the same screenwriters and directors from the previous year made these films.

I've heard good things about The Children. If its not available for rent at Blockbuster I might consider a blind buy.

I just found a few reviews of the films from this year (The Children, The Thaw, Seventh Moon, Offspring) on netflix (more than imdb.com for some reason). So you can check those out. The Children and Offspring seem to be the best reviewed of the four.

Correct, but the ones I saw from this company were still garbage. That doesn't change.

The company didn't make these as I understand it. They just bought the rights to the movies.

I'm not disagreeing with you that the earlier Ghosthouse Underground movies sucked. I went out of my way to avoid them they looked so awful, but as I understand it these films were acquired by Ghosthouse, not actually made by Ghosthouse.

Either way: suckage.

If it's got a GHU logo on the box, I'm most likely gonna avoid it...

LOL. Got me. I hate when other people make mistakes like that. Sometimes I start typing and the forget what I had already typed. Okay, I wouldn't be surprised if they DID show up on Fearnet soon. They did have Dance of the Dead and they always have the Horrorfest movies too. These are being released by Sony, aren't they?

Dread Central graded the new releases from GHU and they gave THE CHILDREN high marks. The other three seemed average. I might give THE CHILDREN a blind buy.

C'mon people get in the Halloween spirit. 'Tis the season of under-budget, half-assed horror films, LOL. Personally, I'm not buying a damn one of Ghost House films again...but, I'll give Thaw and Seventh Moon a try on netflix. Anyone let me know if the others are worth a queue spot, thanks

I got all 4 today on the 4 for $60 deal. I haven't watched them yet but they look to be low budget horror flicks. I love those so I'm pretty excited to watch them. I don't know anything about them though.
