USA Any Dragnet fans here?

I'm watching The Shout Factory release of Dragnet 1968 which I picked up at Best Buy today. Man on DVD these even look damn good. I'd rebuy Dragnet on blu! These shows (yes, there's the dated technology, and Jack Webb's ciggie smoking) are still cool to watch today! Any other Dragnet fans here at Blu-ray.com?

Update, the Dragent 1966 movie is missing the first few minutes of the feature, this is a very important part of the film. Might write to Shout Factory and see if there is corrected version. Other than that the 1968 set is awseome!

I never saw more than a few seconds of this show. On a related note I was looking for the comedy Dragnet after my wife pointed out that she had never seen the dvd anywhere. You can get it on dvd through amazon. I hope they release it on blu at some point. That's some funny stuff. I wouldn't mind watching the show as I get in the mood for dated stuff sometimes.

Shout factory will send you a corrected disc 1 with the missing minutes of the first movie. E-mail to info@shoutfactory.com. Include your name and address. I got my replacement disc in less than a week.

This is a great TV series and I want to get all the seasons by Shout Factory. I understand that Universal's season 1 was not as well done so I will wait for hopefully a Shout Factory box set.

This takes me back to the 60's. I remember watching some of the episodes. I also watched some of the original 50's dragnet but I was little then and don't remember them except for the hammer scene at the end of each episode.

The dialogue is great. There is nobody like Jack Webb today on tv. I am also interested in getting the movie the DI. Jack Webb was great in this also.

And even though the 60's-series Joe Friday Vs. the Hippies seemed like camp at the time and is still paper-targeted as camp today, listening to the "Jesus-speeches" in the post-Woodstock era, Webb was surprisingly on-target and prophetic for his time about why the post-Ashbury hippie movement disintegrated at the end of the 60's:

Yes, the episodes may be heavily skewed, but you have to love the episode where the spoiled runaway kid is shoplifting supplies from stores because he wants to start his own commune, parroting all the "rejecting all the commercialism of our society" spiel...Sgt. Gannon quizzes him on whether he knows where the safety catch is on a rifle, or how to use penicillin safely, and other such messy survival details the kid and his friends are obviously clueless on.
Then Friday gives the Big Speech: "You want to start your own society?--The Pilgrims did it in Massachusetts, but they had people who knew what they were doing, and knew how to work hard for it...You haven't 'rejected society', you've rejected paying for it--And that makes you exactly what you said you weren't, a common thief."

For every "Blue Boy" episode that the stoners symbolically giggle at, there were just as many indictments that the post-'68 West coast hippie movement had disintegrated into a lot of show talk and lazy excuses for wannabes looking to bum a free ride, and Webb was one of the few Button-Down Establishment figures who wasn't fooled for his day.

This is one of my favorite episodes from 1969, it stars a very young Howard Hesseman (Billed as Don Sturdy) future star of WKRP In Cincinatti. Trivia, he also had a supporting role in Billy Jack (also using the Don Sturdy alias) link ro show that's watchable FREE on imdb!http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0565642/

TRIVIA: Just found out that one of the actors in the film: the late John Roseboro was a pro baseball player, I never knew that!

I hope Shout Factory will also release blu-ray versions of the 1967-1970 series. They would look awseome, as they were shot on Technicolor film!

it does in a way, the late Harry Morgan reprises his role from the colour series, plus Dan Ackroyd played Joe Friday's nephew.
