Default Jason Vorhees Returns - F13th Part 2 Confirmed

As if it wasn't inevitable, the Platinum Dunes sequel to the recent F13th "remake" is officially confirmed w/ Derek Mears coming back to reprise the role of Jason Vorhees. I know many hated the remake but I enjoyed it and can't wait for this. Derek Mears absolutely owned as Jason, easily the best. Though this time I just hope they tone down the campiness & stupid teenagers a bit and make it more creative and slightly more violent.

"Friday the 13th Part 2 Date Official
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor October 1, 2009

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. made it official today. Friday the 13th Part 2, a sequel to this year's Friday the 13th, is slated to hit on August 13, 2010.

Brad Fuller and Andrew Form tipped us off back in June right here, that if all goes according to plan, that was the date they were looking at. Fuller stresses to us, however, that the sequel still does not have a greenlight.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift will return to write. And Derek Mears will absolutely be back to reprise his role as Jason Voorhees, contrary to the many wild rumors running around on the web."

Michael Meyers brother.

On Topic, I don't know if its just me but why can't Hollywood come up with something authentic anymore.

I agree, honestly how hard is to come up w/ original material. Just sitting here now I could probably think up a dozen or so new and original ideas. But still, Jason is an icon, I'll always welcome his return. Though I certainly know where your coming from. Which is why I'll be blind buying both Drag Me To Hell & Trick 'r Treat as they appear to be very creative and original.

Because studios are afraid to back original ideas during the recession so they go with ideas that have proven track records. So we as the consumer get nothing new.

Recession isn't stopping people from going to movies.

This past Summer was still a hit in profits and very well was in the middle of recession.

So I could understand Studios not wanting to be original since money is a factor involved, still I think more people would check an original flick over a remake.

August 13th of next year ain't that far away. Hopefully their not rushed to get this done just so they can release on the next Friday 13th. Last time the script suffered because of the whole writer strike issue, I'd hate to see it suffer once again.

Because the same writers write everything, and everything written has been written before at one time or another with some type of writing implement be it a pen, pencil, typewriter, computer or monkey.

Blood on snow is great to see.

I really enjoyed the remake, but I will also be happy for JV to come up against someone else apart from stupid and stoned teenagers. Give him some competition for the kill.

He almost single-handedly ruined the whole movie. Also the huge douche who owned the house. I think even CZAR would have to agree with me on this. Jason rocked though.

I mean u have to look at it like this.......The douche who's uncle or whatever that owned the outhouse was an ass, but u have to have atleast one a-hole in the movie anyway so i was ok with that cause when an a0hole gets killed then the crowd cheers for it. As for the asian dude he was ok to me as well because even in a horror film u still need the comedic element here and there and he provided it!! by no means did they make the movie though but they were bearable if u look at it form my standpoint!! The girls were fabulous by the way!! Yeeeeeeee!! Got Em!!
