![]() ![]() Philharmonic Audio was founded by Dennis Murphy, a DIY designer and the crossover/speaker designer for Salk Sound. Dennis' work has become world renowned and his selection of drivers/components in combination with the cabinet design makes the Philharmonic Speaker line very hard to resist. Dennis is currently offering three floor-standing models and one monitor-style model, all with an open-back midrange cabinet design except the monitor speaker. A matching center channel available as well, though it is not on the website yet. The models are as follows: Philharmonic 1 ![]() Specs: Drivers SB Acoustics 23NRXS45-8 woofer, BG Neo8 planar midrange, Fountek Neo3 ribbon tweeter Response 32Hz – 20kHz (+/- 2 dB) Sensitivity 87.5 db (dB/2.83v/1M) Box Alignment Mass-loaded transmission line Dimensions 41.5” H x 11.5” W x 21” D Price $1600/pair Philharmonic 2 ![]() Specs: Drivers SB Acoustics 23NRXS45-8 woofer, BG Neo8 planar midrange, RAAL 10D ribbon tweeter Response 32Hz – 20kHz (+/- 2 dB) Sensitivity 87.5 db (dB/2.83v/1M) Box Alignment Mass-loaded transmission line Dimensions 41.5” H x 11.5” W x 21” D Price $2000/pair Philharmonic 3 ![]() Specs: Drivers ScanSpeak 22W8851T00 “Revelator” 8-inch woofer, BG Neo8 planar midrange, RAAL 70-10D ribbon tweeter Response 25Hz – 20kHz (+/- 2 dB) Sensitivity 85 dB (db/2.83v/1M) Box Alignment Mass-loaded transmission line Dimensions 43” H x 12” W x 24” D Price $3000/pair Philharmonitor ![]() Specs (not finalized yet): Drivers Seas Prestige ER18RNX Reed Paper Cone Woofer, Fountek Neo3 ribbon tweeter Response To be announced Sensitivity To be announced Box Dayton 2 way curved gloss black from Parts Express .75" Price To be announced Dennis has only offered these speakers for a short time, but they've already been welcome to the audio market with open arms and already have a handful of great reviews, including a mention of them on Stereophile's website by John Atkinson. Stereophile's Philharmonic Impressions Owner Review 1 Owner Review 2 Owner Review 3 Owner Review 4 Owner review 5 I will have the pleasure of hearing these speakers in a couple weeks, first in my home for a week, then at our Wisconsin Audio Club GTG on April 14th. Needless to say I cannot wait! ' I wish Dennis Murphy great success in this new venture. If you're a music lover and appreciate extreme value and performance, these speakers are going to be hard to beat! ![]() Last edited by Nuance; 03-26-2012 at 03:29 PM. |

If/When we get a new place it's either the Phil 2's or if I have enough for it - the Salk SS8's that I will be buying for a 2ch setup. Just from my experience with the SongTowers and Dennis Murphy's reputation I have enough confidence in his work to buy either of these speakers blind.
The prices these sell for really are crazy! Possibly the best bang for you buck out there.. I know of one member on this forum that has a pair of Phils coming. Not sure if he's still around here but I've read his posts on the AVS forum and I think he should be getting them real soon. He's coming from Focal Electras.. lucky guy ![]() |
