Lightbulb Hollywood In Hi Def Controversy (hidefhollywood.com)

Poor Scott Hettrick at the new website launched by sony, fox and disney that discusses the future of Hi-Def (primarily Blu-Ray) is taking major heat over the integrity of the site. Check out his blogs and follow the conversation... and for those of you who brave through it, what are you thoughts after listening in? i've said my peace a couple of times and i like the site. but i want to hear more outside opinions (regarding the site and/or his blogs)...

...and no bda doesn't pay for or support the site....

So he's getting paid by the BDA and people have a problem with how he reports? Contact the BDA.

If you have a troll on your site either ban or ignore them. If they are not giving an adequate argument and are there only to ***** then it is useless to let them continue. They have a bad opinion of the site? That won't change.

Trolls love attention. That's why they post; they want more responses. They will laugh at any attempt to deal with them logically.

What would I do?
I would tell them if they had problems with the site or my reporting then they need to email me directily. They specifically not allowed to use the comments section due to their abuse.

What I am seeing again and again is dual format users who go onto a pro-Blu site and disrupt it. This definitely isn't every dual user but there are enough who do it to spot a trend. That is what happened at AVS.
"I have the format so I can troll."...uh no you can't.

That's the problem with internet forums - anyone with a keyboard can type anything they want.

But the problem with banning them from a site is then they just hop on every other forum on the internet complaining up a storm about how the site is so biased and fraudulent. Heck, to be fair, there are even Blu-ray trolls that have done this same thing regarding another popular site we all know.

People are going to be people. Some will like certain thing while others might not like the same things, it is everything in life.

From what I read, he makes the fatal flaw of getting off track and talking about what the trolls want him. He needs to direct the conversation so that it is about the article/blog entry he just posted.

I'm sure Scott can handle it, just like Bill can. Therefore I think it's hilarious that the site has gotten under the skin of supporters of the dying hi def format of compromise.

Rock on Scott!
