Default Anyone use Vonage?

I was thinking of switching from PSTN TO VoIP. Only problem is my DSL goes out when it rains heavy... so that would mean I wouldn't have a phone either. Just wanted to get some input. Didn't know if anyone had any suggestions.

Another reason why I want to switch is I have a nice Cisco ip phone. The ones from 24... got it cheap at an auction. A company was going out of business and I got it for a good price. It's basically a paper weight right now lol. Unless there's some type of hack to get it to work over my land line but I don't think that would be possible. However, if does have an RJ-11 port.

So...if anyone has the service or has a better option, let me know. Thanks

My family tried it. and believe me they were pissed with the service.

Then again I actually don't know what is going on with my family since for some reason my parent house have 4 different numbers and services not including Cell Phones services.

I have Vonage for my work line at home and have been pretty satisfied with the service. I had some issues about a month and a half ago, but they were resolved rather quickly.

As far as the Cisco phone, you will not be able to use it with Vonage very easily. If I remember correctly, you will need to change the load on it to the SIP load and sign up for the softphone service. A Cisco phone typically needs to communicate with a CallManager server in order to "register" and get its configuration.

Unless it is a different model than I'm familiar with, the RJ-11 port is for a headset.

had vonage for 3 years for my dad's business office and recently cancelled and switched to magicjack and couldn't be happier. both services worked great but there is a huge price difference.

We've had Vonage for a few months now, and it works great. It has some pretty cool features that come with the service. I sent you a PM about it, too.
