Default New "Journey" DVD - Not quite Bluray, but...

Based on the info below, I wonder if anyone knows (save your jokes btw) if this is one-step below Bluray & 1 above standard DVD technology? I don't see that they have a Bluray version of this, so I'm assuming it was either too expensive a process & they came up with this "happy medium" perhaps?

JOURNEY On 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'; - Oct. 6, 2009

"Don't Stop Believin'" was the theme of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on October 5 when legendary rockers JOURNEY appeared on the program to tell Oprah how singer Arnel Pineda became part of the band as well as to perform their hit anthem.

JOURNEY's "Live In Manila" two-DVD set was released on October 2. Filmed with RED technology, which utilizes special 4K high-definition cameras with a resolution exceeding 35mm film that gives the footage an extra dynamic quality, the DVD captures JOURNEY's historic concert in Manila, Philippines. Performing more than two hours' worth of classic favorites, as well as new hits from the band's latest album, "Revelation", "Live In Manila" documents the triumphant homecoming of the band's singer Arnel Pineda.

On March 14, 2009, JOURNEY returned to Pineda's homeland and introduced him as their new lead singer to a crowd of nearly 30,000. Group members Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory, and Deen Castronovo swelled with pride as they witnessed the Filipino people embrace Arnel and the music of JOURNEY.

By the time of the Manila concert, more than 800,000 copies Of "Revelation" — the band's first album with Arnel — had been sold, and was supported with sold-out shows all over the world.

The "Live In Manila" DVD, like "Revelation", is being sold exclusively at Wal-Mart in North America. (Just $10!)

"Live In Manila" track listing:

Disc One:

01. Never Walk Away
02. Only The Young
03. Ask The Lonely
04. Stone In Love
05. Keep On Running
06. After All These Years
07. Change For The Better
08. Wheel In The Sky
09. Lights / Still They Ride
10. Open Arms
11. Mother Father
12. Wildest Dreams
13. When You Love A Woman
14. Separate Ways
15. What I Needed

Disc Two:

16. Edge Of The Blade
17. Where Did I Lose Your Love
18. Escape
19. Faithfully
20. Don't Stop Believin'
21. Anyway You Want It
22. Lovin' Touchin'
23. Turn Down The World
24. Be Good To Yourself

It is an abomination. Sorry, all joking aside, Journey is not Journey without Steve Perry. There I said it.

A Journey without Steve Perry is just a jaunt.

1. 4K does not exceed the resolution or quality of 35mm film.
2. Even if they put a 4K movie on DVD it still wouldn't make the quality of the DVD any better. Look at The Dark Knight all the 35mm scenes were scanned in at 4K yet the DVD looks like crap.

Breaking news. Freddie Mercury = horrible singer. Queen w/ Paul Rodgers = real Queen.

Let the truth be spoken: Sammy Hagar > David Lee Roth.

Gary Cherone will always be synonymous with Extreme.

Blasphemy! Blasphemy, I say!

That Arnel guy does have quite the sound-alike voice, amazing. Too bad Steve Perry broke his hip or whatever - wasn't that the beginning of the end for Journey?

"Nothing endures but change." - from Diogenes Laertius' Lives of the Philosophers

Steve Perry may have defined Journey's emblematic sound, but he has moved on and so has the band. I have no objections to Arnel being the voice of a band whose identity and reason for being are built on nostalgia.

I bought the Revelation CD/DVD package a few weeks back, and I will pick up the eventual DVD release as well. As for Arnel's detractors: your loss.

According to various sources, Perry's refusal to undergo hip replacement surgery was cited as the reason for severing ties with the band; whether it was initiated by him or by the band members depends on whom the question is addressed to.

Looks like we've got some hardcore Journey fans in here! Of course my previous posts are largely kidding around and not intended to offend anyone.
