Default Bridge to Terabithia observation?

Just watched this BD - good picture, but the sound mixing was very annoying to me. To hear the dialog I had to turn the volume way up. Then the music came through so loud it almost blew out my speakers and my ears. I wish the audio mixing folks would get a little less heavy a foot on the music pedal. This seems to be a problem with a lot of movies I've seen lately. Just mho.

What's your speaker set-up?
Is your centre speaker matched to your front speakers in terms of sensitivity?
Have you tried putting your centre level up 2 or 3 dB's?
Is this the Dolby mix?

If you don't want this... just play with the DynamicRange of you're Amplifier

I own that disk and I played that movie last week, I do not recall any sound problem you mentioned. Actually it sounds quiet good!

I've seen the Blu-Ray 3 times now and never had any problems with not being able to hear Dialogue. Yes, the music did get loud at some parts, but there wasn't tons of dialogue happening then... My only complaint about the sound is that most of the dialogue was recorded later on and was obviously done in a studio.

Speakers are matched. Using 5.1 outputs from BDP-S1 and HDMI into monitor/tv. Music is just loud for my sensitive ears. If anything I may need to turn the center spkrs down.

I have to ask, not trying to be a wise guy or anything, but do you have your speakers level-matched, with a SPL metre?

Just watched this with my son actually for the first time like a half an hour ago, and I had no problems with the sound at all...

I thought all dialogue was very audible, and the music blended in pretty well with everything else. I never once had to adjust the volume to hear anyone speaking or lower the music volume.

No, but I did just find out the problem. A lightening strike about a year or so ago or the frequent power outages here must have wiped out my settings on the Sony receiver. Went through the setup again and it seems much better. So thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I'm really glad to find out it isn't a bad bd. Just a bad bd operator ha ha.

Cool that everything is okay , but I really would suggest you get a SPL metre to level match all your speakers, it is impossible to get this accurate by ear alone. Radio Shack sells them quite inexpensively: 7-Range Analog Display Sound Level Meter

Cool

He's right though the dialog seems to be just a bit softer, but not extremely.
