USA Can computer scans/copies fade the original?

I have a HP printer/copy machine combo. My friend says that making copies and scans can fade the original document, picture, etc. becuse it uses a bright light to make the scan/copy I say not. What's the truth on the matter, I'm not really much of computer accsessory expert.

I guess it may depend on the number of times you scan something. Just like the sun can fade things.

I would not bee too worries about that. I have scanned documents, pictures, clothes, etc. I've never noticed any fading from any of them. Granted, most have only been scanned once, but still.

I would not worry too much. Besides, have you done a Google search? He may just be playing an APJ on you.
