Harman Kardon HK AVR 254? - Blu-ray Forum

I have a chance to get a HK 254 for around $288 refurb. Is this a good price? This is just going to be an interim AVR....I am thinking of going with a Emo UMC-1 and XPA-5, when the UMC-1 becomes generally available.

Had this receiver for less than a year. 2 blown fuses...audio was out of sync numerous times even after firmware update to the receiver. I'd go a different route imo. I know others have had issues with this receiver also.

Thanks for the info...it seems others haven't had any problems, so I guess it is a hit and miss as to whether this unit works or doesn't. Well I guess I will look around for something else.

I've had mine for about a year and I *knocks on wood* haven't had any problems with it. I love my Harman Kardon AVR-254!

Thanks...I am really tempted to pull the trigger and get this unit. I heard one awhile back and I couldn't believe the quality of the sound.

What is your setup and are you running everything via HDMI?

It refurb. so it have been check through for problems and fix.....I love my HK when I had it and then finally give up a few weeks ago....but it over 9 years old....I will be replacing it with another HK soon!!!

I would go for it!

I bought mine new over a year ago and I've had no problems and yes everything is through hdmi.
The sound quality is amazing. I've a good experience with it and I'd recommend it.

My 254 arrived today, and will be setting it up this weekend. I also ordered a SPL meter off ebay and it came today too, so I will all set to put it all together....can't wait for the weekend to get here.

soon...HK AVR-254 and 354 are discontiued.

mine receicver is a year old. it's very good.
