Default Gremlins target PQ

Has anybody watched it Yet? Just wondering if the PQ is up to snuff.

There haven't been any user reviews posted here yet, but there was a lot of discussion about it being a poor transfer in the Gremlins/WoO thread in the Hot-Deals forum.

Watched this yesterday. PQ was fine but don't expect eye-popping visuals. Everything was natural, colors were nice. The audio was a bit dull for me...I had to crank it up louder than usual just to clearly hear the dialogue.

Here it is.

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/foru...emlins-blu-ray

This is from one of his posts-
Tony,

I will wait for others to chime in to answer that question. I
didn't have time to compare the DVD and BD transfers but
I am going to guess that this isn't a major upgrade from the
standard DVD release. There's nothing extraordinary about
this BD transfer other than the fact you do notice the subtle
improvements in image quality due to being on high definition.
Based on the amount of debris in the print I am guessing this
is the same transfer. Even the extras look to be the exact
same as the DVD.

As I said, nothing special here over what the original DVD
probably looked like.

Don't worry, that won't happen. Warner releases are the same discs worldwide.

I'm happy with the transfer.
I do remember though in July's copy of Bluray Review there was a section where Joe Dante said that the Bluray was suppose to come out this year for its 25th Anniversary but they were not happy with the transfer so it will be delayed till 2010.
I wonder if Warner said F*** it in the end and released it anyway.

He also wrote...

"On a whole, GREMLINS looks very good on Blu-ray and
quite representative of how I remember it looking back in
1984. It appears no major remastering was done here.
There's nothing eye-popping about this transfer. It still
looks like something released from that period without
any kind of degradation."

That adds nothing to your argument.

But in all seriousness, I think it's because the section you took and posted made it seem like the Blu-ray doesn't look any different than the DVD when in fact it does and he went on to say that it looks "very good".

What argument? You weren't being objective by only posting the negative he had to say.

He said it looked "very good on Blu-ray and quite representative of how he remembered it looking back in 1984". Very good means very good, contradicting the ridiculous statement you made about it being "worse than the DVD".

Not the best transfer but way better than Ghostbusters.
