Default Sony BDP S350

Im having a weird rattle / huming noise when playing some blu-ray and non blu ray dvds. The noise is coming from the disc drive, nothing is hitting the player to cause it to rattle. Very annoying noise ! Please help.

Does it happen all of the time during playback or just when it's loading or reading certain parts of the disc? How loud is it? My BX2 (S360) has a very low hum and vibration occassionally, but nothing out of the ordinary for a BD player.

I may be wrong but I think the hum is caused by very minor imbalances in the disc which when spun at high speed cause a vibration.

Does the hum and rattle occur with every disc or is it just some? If it's only some, is it repeatable i.e. always the same disc? If so then I'd suggest spinning up the disc in another BD player (if you have access). Intermittent faults are usually the fault of the hardware, repeatable faults are generally the fault of the disc. At least this is what I have found.

By that I mean, if the same disc always gives hum and rattle but other discs don't it's probably the disc. If every disc hums and rattles it's a fair bet it's a problem with the player. Think that makes more sense.

I notice it more with non blu ray dvds. It does not do it on all dvds just some. Very loud rattleing/humning noise, cant really watch movie with noise.
