USA Cirque du Freak The Vampire's Assistant

I saw Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant for the 2nd time yesterday. I really wish that more people would go see this. Hopefully, despite the bad reviews from the critics this movie will pick up steam over the next couple of weeks. I really enjoyed the movie despite the vast differences from the books. As a fan of the books, I am really interested in seeing the rest of the movies that will only be made if this one does well. The next two movies would be the best of the series, based on books 4-6 and 7-9. I hope the studio makes enough money on this one to give the series a chance. If you haven't already seen this movie PLEASE go see it. Also I'm curious how many people who have seen it liked it.

I saw it this weekend.

I really enjoyed it. Found it quite fun. There were some stupid aspects to it, but I really enjoyed John C. Reilly's performance. The humor to me was a great mix with the feel of the film.

It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I went in expecting to completely hate but I was quite entertaining.

Apparently the key to liking this was very low expectations. I thought it'd be better so I was disappointed.

Wasn't dreadful, just DULL, it was trying to be serious yet every second was there was joke, it just didn't work.

The story was a sloppy mess.

It just ends, no surmary, the baddies just walk off.

Though John C Reiley was BRILLIANT in the film, most the other actors were bland.

There was some cool visual stuff

And I hated the midpoint Montage.

But I was entertained at least.

Overal, the film is at the most worth a rent, but nothing more.

5/10

I finally saw this tonight and was seriously underwhelmed. As some other's have mentioned, I thought John Reiley's performance was fun, but everyone else failed to impress.

My biggest complaint is that the whole thing played like a setup to a sequel (or few) that given the dismal box office performance, will never happen. A film can set up a franchise just fine while still being a good stand alone movie, and this wasn't that at all. Sloppy.

I've been wanting to see this for a while, but hard to find any friends who also want to see it too! Sucks not living within walking distance of a theatre! lol

Movie seem ok, I don't plan on seeing it in theater, later on I will catch it.

For those who read the book, how was it?

Much better in the books. Saw this when it opened and my son and I just kept going over all of the inconsistencies and stupid changes that were made. Not a completely horrible movie, it just lacked a lot of what was in the books that make them so great.

Haven't seen the movie. Didn't know it was a series of books.
