Default Significant difference?

Right now I have an Onkyo 520 receiver and the packaged speakers that came with it. It looks like I could pick up Polk 60's and a c10 center (I think) for around $340ish. I feel like it's a good deal but am wondering how much of a difference there might be if I stick with the same reciever an just change speakers?

Any suggestions in quality comparisons?

you need to give more information on your system. if it's a HTiB then please include the entire model number. I can't find anything on just the 520 receiver.

The Polks will sound better than what you a currently using, but i would upgrade the receiver as well in the future. I think upgrading speakers would be the biggest impact that you are looking for. Shop around for speakers and i'm sure there are members here that will direct you to a better place to get Polk speakers.

Well all I can say is I had a yamaha htib and the difference was night and day when I got my polks. Infact it was much more of a difference then when I also upgraded to the v663

It's an HT-R520. Came with all speakers for 6.1. Not sure if it qualifies as htib as the receiver is the real deal (although a bit on the old side).

I thought 120 a piece for the 60's was pretty good? No?

go with the polks and change the speaker wire. most of the time the HTiB comes with really cheap, small gauge wire for the speakers. get yourself some good
14awg wire for the new polk speakers. i suspect you will hear some real difference. better speakers is probably the single best thing anyone can do to upgrade their system and get better sound right out of the box.

best of luck to ya!
keep us posted!
