Default Amazon Special Now PS3 + Remote + Resident Evil

Let's see if Resident Evil becomes a best seller now.

RE seems like a more appropriate title to bundle with a PS3 than Memento (given the demographic).

It looks like people are finally taking the plunge now that PS3 has hit the magic number. I fully expect that this will take a bite out of 360 and Wii sales.

Well, here's the thing. It's still the same low-end pricepoint the ps3 launched with before [on the 20gb].

What has people talking is that it 'went down in price', creating an illusion of it being cheaper.

Yes it has some more features over the 20gb, but to alot of gamers, those are really fluff features [wifi, 40gb more hd, and a card reader].

Default amazon not working right

just tried to place order but for some reason it is splitting items into 2 shipments with the movie shipping seperately and on the final screen before submitting, they are only deducting the cost of the remote, not the movie??? maybe will try again in the morning

Ah, that explains why RE-Apocalypse suddenly shot up (#31 right now).

It looks like Amazon is almost out of copies of Momento (4 left), which is probably why they switched the title.

Still, switching the title regulary causes new people to pull the trigger and keeps the promotion effective. Smart of both Sony and Amazon.

Especially since you can swap out the drive under warranty (instructions included). I have a 120GB upgraded 20GB model myself.

Cool

Imagine how many PS3's would've flew off the shelves if a movie like 300 was packed in, and just a few weeks before its release. It'd be like launch day for the PS3 all over again.

I saw 20GB models on amazon going for 400 bucks....

they were used...but I'd still consider it if price was a factor..

to be honest, wifi was one of the main reasons I bought the 60 over the 20. It mattered to me.

It's important, but well. Here's the crutch imo, if you're serious about the online play, you're going to want it wired just to actually be able to use your bandwidth.

Wifi was a added bonus for me. Would have gotten the PS3 anyway, but the 60GB with all the goodies and only $100 more than the 20GB, sold. Not getting caught in the "360" trap again.

That's just not the case. Most people get more bandwidth over home Wifi than they do over their broadband access.

uh fluff features?... 40GB more = 3x 20GB; wifi = no cables around your place; and a card reader.....if your one of the millions who happen to own a digital camera, you will think this is pretty cool to have

If you're one of the millions who happen to own a digital camera, you most likly also have a usb cable to connect it to the PS3 directly... Now, if you happen to be one of the poor sods who got stuck with a non-standard usb interface digicam...

WiFi is nice, but, g provides accounts for less bandwidth than my provider, well provides, and then there's the added issues that you have if you happen to live in a area with alot of wireless signals [such as an aparment, one of the places where wireless networks are a nice thing] when you get more dropped packets due to folks 2.4ghz wireless phones mucking with you or the neighbor's n-draft router starts to down-throttle your bandwidth.

My opinion on the matter is that wireless networking isn't a good option if you want game in real time. And for the 100$ difference, you can get an 80gb harddrive [can get a 160 cutting it close to the 100 difference too].

I had the same problem, so I called Amazon (1-800-201-7575), the rep had me order it and then he applied the discount while I was on the phone. I hope they fix this, but last time I looked they changed the discount from -$24.99 to -$30.00, which still doesn't discount the remote and movie. Great deal.

Underworld: Evolution or Casino Royale would be my guess for the next title, they fit the target demographic well.

I've played lag free matches on Resistance over wifi, so I really don't see a problem there. The thing is, Sony discontinued the 20gb PS3 in the US because people just weren't buying it - demand for the 60gb version was always much higher. And that's not Sony lying either, cause when my bro was looking for a PS3 back in February, all we could ever find for the longest time were 20gb models that nobody wanted. I think that's proof a lot of people felt the 60gb version held the better value at $600 (my bro included). So for $500 it's a steal. This pricedrop couldn't have been timed better for Sony though. They drop the price to coincide with a pretty strong showing at E3, and all this negative news about 360s dying comes to the surface - which is sure to have people thinking twice about buying a 360. The PS3 hasn't been in this positive a view since... ever. It's gonna be really hard to argue against getting a PS3 now.

Would be amazing if Sony released another feature packed system software update soon. It's come so far already but I know they've got so many ideas for new functionality and getting the PSP's full feature set over.
