Default Buy Just for PQ & AQ?

1. Will you buy a movie just because it has 5 stars for AQ and PQ?

I bought Baraka blind because of the PQ, the movie sounded kinda interesting, a little artsy, thought I'd give it a try. Glad I did, visually it is great.

Also the reason I got Sleeping Beauty, never saw all of the movie before, thought it can't be that bad. I was right; it is great. The Searchers I had on DVD, watched it once. Had to buy it again for the PQ reviews. The movie is still just okay.

I've only bought 3 movies because of the PQ, not the movie quality.

Haven't seen Transformers since the theater; never saw part 2. I know they are not great movies, debating on buying them just for the PQ and AQ.

2. Will you buy a bad movie just for the PQ and AQ?

Note: Buy not rent, because my movie store doesn't have more than 40 Blus. Also, many, like me, enjoy collecting these visual and auditory gems that are Blu-rays. Don't want to see it; want to own it.

I don't have the wallet to do that and while some of them may offer "some" replay value, I mainly rent those. It's costly enough to own the movies I really want without throwing in 5 star titles as must haves that I really have little interest in, Baraka for one by the way.

will i buy a movie solely based on PQ and AQ? no

will i buy a movie by factoring in PQ and AQ? yes

min buy score = movie score + PQ + AQ (with variations: for example, some may weigh the movie score more, or the AQ more)

assuming my min buy score is 10 (as example)

if the movie is 5/5, now the PQ and AQ only need to be at least 5/10 to buy (example: 2/5 PQ and 3/5 AQ).

if the movie is 2/5, now the PQ and AQ must be at least 8/10 to buy (example: 4/5 PQ and 4/5 AQ)

Also The Fifth Element, one of the first becuase I saw it on display and I was hooked. Had no idea if the movie was good or not, it looked awesome. Got lucky with that too. A great film.

Yeah sometimes I do.I did the same for the Searchers also Grand Prix (this hddvd) glad I did too they both look amazing and Grand Prix was actually pretty darn good.I also want to get sleeping beauty. Man if you go on Disney BD live and see the preview for the frog and the princess movie that looks amazing. Its some of the best 2d animation I have ever seen! I would by that right now just on PQ alone! Although its Disney so you are never really buying for PQ alone.

Not me, regardless of PQ and AQ score, I wouldn't buy it based on that criteria.

Nope. I have no interest in buying films I don't actually like, simply because they look or sound good. There are lots of crappy movies that look and sound fantastic, and likewise there are great movies that don't look or sound that wonderful.

I buy movies, not "show-off" discs to impress people.

So what is your blind but min. buy score?

Will you get Transformers 2? It would score a 12.5. It depends, I know on a lot, like do you like action packed movies with comic relief. If you see a review for this and it says it has pristine audio and picture, and the movie may be OK,(it isn't 0.5 stars) do you buy?

Understand.

Some Home Theater people will buy this stuff to impress themselves.

I can't say that it is wrong to enjoy your speakers and screen with a film that sucks. I know it isn't watching a movie anymore; it's just having fun with some toys.

I bought some imax blurays for PQ but they were movies I like ocean crap like that. I bought Baraka and hated it so I traded it. I haven't bought it yet but the strangers has awesome sound that makes the movie I guess that would fall in the AQ part.

No again

I don't care if the PQ is wonderful if the movie hold's no interest to me I won't care if it's the most incredible PQ in history, I won't buy it.

On the reverse, if I love the movie then I don't truly care about the PQ, I will buy iy.

Really? I have no problem saying that.

Why waste time on a film that sucks? There are too many good movies out there with excellent AQ and PQ.
