Default Help choosing an LCD 1080p!

I'm planning on buying an LCD 1080p tv with a preferable size of 42'' (though 46'' and 47'' are options), with also a response time of 5 or less and 120hz. I find it a bit difficult to bottle it down to one as there are so many different models and tiny yet seemingly important differences.

The Vizio brand is another preference but I'm not too sure which would be the best as there are several different models. I'm leaning towards a SV470M but I'm not sure.
(BTW, does anyone know where SV420M's are available. Walmart had them about two weeks go but they're gone now.)

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated : )

for the OP

55" If you have the coin

If I hadn't gotten my first projector, I would have gone with something like that...

I went with a projector vs another LCD, that 55" sammy is really a beautiful set but I am in love with my projector, it gives a more realistic movie viewing experiance than the LCD. Sometimes LCD's can look too good and too clean.

+1 Were gonna freak out the OP and put visions of projectors into his head!

Man that 55" looks nice... But alas, I have no space left on that wall.

Hey vlad, think you can squeeze in that 55" or do you have to stay under 50" (or under budget)

I currently own a Vizio 32'' 720p and I've been happy with it but want to upgrade. Would you guys not recommend the brand for higher end HDTV's?

Most people probably won't recommend them, but I would. I currently own a 50" Vizio Plasma and i'm thinking about replacing the 26" LCD in the bedroom with a 32" Vizio 1080p LCD. Sam's has them for $347. I don't know if people have a problem with the build quality or picture, but I haven't had any problems with mine after almost 2 years. As far as picture is concerned, i'm sure if you had two unmarked televisions most people couldn't tell the difference between any brands. That's just my opinion, though. I say if you own Vizio and like them go that route.

I will be the first to say but I believe you can absolutely see a LARGE difference in the quality of a Sammy and a Vizio

I used to own 2 Vizios, 42" and 32", and 1 Samsung 40", I sold the 42" Vizio for a 32" Samsung. Vizios are getting better but they still do not compare to the Samsungs and Sonys, you will get what you pay for. My father in law has an Vizio SVT and my brother in law has a Vizio plasma. the SVT is decent, but there still aren't enough controls to really fine tune the picture, and the PQ suffers some compared to my samsung, mainly in black level and grey scale. The Vizio plasma is prolly the worst TV I think I have ever seen. OH, except for that Insignia that they have when I walk in the door at BB, or is it a Dynex... either way meh.

Thanks for all the responses guys, I really appreciate it.
I went to Best Buy today and Costco and like you all said, as good as Vizios are and as much as they are progressing, when it comes to 1080p LCD's you really can't get any better than the 3 S's. I'm going to wait it out a bit but I'm definitely aiming for a Samsung now.
Again, thanks for all the recommendations and quick responses.

Additional input is welcome

I am already saving for LED HDTV's. This supposed to surpass LCD's and Plasma's half life.
