Default La planete sauvage/The Fantastic Planet (1973)

I first saw this on PBS as a kid in the early 80's and over time forgot about it. Then a year or so ago I found it on youtube. I've watched it a couple times since, and now thanks to Amazon I own it. Anyone else ever seen it, what is your opinion?

I knew this was probably pretty obscure, but I figured someone would have seen it. Oh well if your looking for something a little different, maybe even strange, give it a try.

I was in Movie Stop awhile back and found it, but the cover art was in bad shape and the disc looked like it had been used as a frisbee so I passed. I was looking around on Amazon Saturday and it just popped in my head. Although, after looking around on the internet this might be the best version and I'll probably pick it up at some point.

I actually watched it recently (few months ago)...

Very odd movie, but rather interesting. It's one of those movies I enjoyed, but I couldn't tell you why.

I hear Eureka (UK) is putting it on Blu-ray in their Masters of Cinema series at some point (probably next year?)

Watched this in high school and been meaning to catch it again. It's probably the weirdest movie I have ever seen. There are a lot of weird 70s cartoons tho .. like Wizards. But this is even more out there.

I've seen this twice, once on video in the 80's, then at a revival theater in the 90's. It's interesting, but not really my cup of tea, so to speak.

I was getting ready to buy their Masters Of Cinema DVD, I hope this is true. Do you know if their Blu-rays are region locked? Thanks for letting me know.

Wizards was pretty good. Have you ever seen Fritz the Cat?

I don't believe they are, but I'm not certain. As far as I know all of their current Blu-ray Masters of Cinema releases have been region free.

There's no date yet on Fantastic Planet BR, but it was in their list of future releases for Blu-ray (it's a short list).

I'd definitely pick it up if the price was right.

I remember Anchor Bay had a non anamorphic DVD release of the The Fantasic Planet along with 3 short films that the director made, It's been OOP for a few years now. I would love to see it get the Criterion treatment!

Obscure reference: Jenifer lopez is watching this movie, in a movie she is in - I think it was the Cell.

I've owned this on DVD for years, the original release which is now, according to DVDAF is OOP.

Comes with these shorts:
Fantastic Planet (1973)
( Plančte sauvage, La )
+ Dents du singe, Les ( Monkey's Teeth ) (Short) (1960)
+ Temps morts, Les ( Dead Times ) (Short) (1964)
+ Escargots, Les ( Snails, The ) (Short) (1965)

I'd love a blu-ray release of this french film.
