Does the PS3 player have Multi-Channel SACD capability? - Blu-ray Forum

There are so many things this unit can do and is capable of, according to this link is suppose to have SACD capability, does anyone know if it's capable of Multi-channel SACD? Its my understanding that with v1.82 is suppose provide support for this function as well...?

yeah I play a SACD on it and the multi-channel version works fine..

Yes, but only via HDMI.

The manual states that in order to hear SACDs, you have to use HDMI. I haven't tried to disprove this, but it is in there. NIN: Downward Spiral is an amazing SACD that is still available. I haven't really been able to find many more SACDs than that. I would really like The English Patient soundtrack and I think there is one Incubus SACD. It is a shame SACDs didn't take off. NIN did a knock up job with theirs. It sounds so much better than the original. Almost like a different album. Great job.

SACD used to be analog output only, but digital output was supported in HDMI 1.2. It's also supported on FireWire outputs.

So, the PS3 is only HDMI or 1394 huh, well I'll probaby just have to test it.

No PS3 multichannel playback is only via HDMI. Other high-end SACD players uses either HDMI or Firewire.
