USA Denon 2500BTCI vs. Panasonic DMPBD60

I have seen the prices drop dramatically on the Denon 2500BTCI and I am considering getting rid of my DMPBD60. I would like your opinion. I have the Panasonic hooked up to Panasonic 50V10 plasma and running it through the Onkyo TX SR806.

I just picked up the 2500BTCI from Crutchfield. It was 239.99 (Scratch & Dent), but there was not one thing wrong with it. I also was upgrading from the BD60. Let me first say that the Denon is a beast! I mean, this thing is about 25lbs and it's big......actually, it;s the same width and height as my AVR-3808CI, but it's longer in length. I had to break out a large piece of wood in my TV stand just so this thing would fit.

It's a great player though. The Video is much better on this unit than on the Panasonic.

Highly Recommend!

Its actually Panasonic BD30. they share many components. They have identical sound and picture quality. google it, you will find many pictures comparing internals in some other forums. They are not 100% the same but same enought that they put out very similar performance.

Denon designed 2500bt as a transport for its high end reciever/amps. It has nothing analog, not even a composite out(only HDMI). It bitstreams everything and passes tru 480i(it can upconvert to 1080p in average Q) for DVDs.

nowadays prices I would go for the denon unit since its built quality is higher and its a rarer, nicer BD player. But back in the day $300 vs $1000 didnt make much sense.

Maybe they are the same, audio/video wise, but the Denon looks and feels much better. I think I paid less for the Denon (239.99) shipped than I did for the Panasonic when it first came out.

Anyway, I moved the Panasonic to my bedroom. I'll post some pics of the 2500BTCI when I get around to it.

as i said above, if the analog connections are needed and the price is right Denon would be my choice as well.
