Question Das Boot? Any hope of a BD release?

Das Boot is one of my all-time favorite war movies. My wife and I saw it in the theater in the early 80's and it was magnificent….except for the atrocious english dubbing

Later I purchased this movie on LD, then again on DVD, and viewed it properly rendered in its native German with english subtitles. The sailors' life aboard the German U-boat is realistically recreated; Wolfgang Petersen did a great job with the writing and directing and Jürgen Prochnow was fantastic as the U-boat commander. Das Boot left no doubts in anybody's mind about the harsh life of a submariner.

Unfortunately, I've read nothing on a blu release of this great movie. Does anyone have any information in this regard?

Not heard anything but it is listed on play.com as coming soon. Don't know how long that's been up though.

Hopefully it won't be too long and when it does we'll get all the versions in one set.

Hope so!!!. There is a HD transfer for it and it looks good for a movie of this period. Luclily I have this recorded on Sky+ HD, but I would like to have it on BD.

IMO a must for anyones war movie collection and one of the finest war movies ever made.

Absolutely!

I remember watching the Director's Cut, and marveling at the sound of the sonar's PING resonating throughout the U-boat. Depth charges be damned! Lossless would be unbelievable

Which version?

Hope both versions are offered. One of my favorite films ever. Need this on Blu sooner than later.

Can see this on Sony's slate for 2011 because it will be the 30th Anniversary.

I hope it gets the Close Encounters treatment of all 3 versions of the film.
